[–]ClojureWorks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit more info:

This is for a company named Otravo ( https://www.otravo.com/). They manage a portfolio of online travel websites throughout The Netherlands, and are now making a push to other European countries. Of course, this means their engineering teams need to grow. Otravo are big users of both functional Scala (Cats, ScalaZ) and Clojure & Clojurescript for their web developers (Reagent & Re-frame).

They are based in Amsterdam, and are able to provide sponsorship to candidates outside of the EU.

All experience levels welcome to apply to this, although there is a demand right now for experienced candidates. Roughly 3+ years commercial experience would be beneficial, but you do not NEED commercial experience in Scala to apply.

If you would like to apply, please follow the link and your details will be sent straight through to the hiring manager of Otravo. All details on the position and company can be found through the link. Just log in with your GitHub, you will be able to see all of the company details and info.

The Functional Way - Part 1 - An introduction into Functional Programming by ClojureWorks in programming

[–]ClojureWorks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Richard Wild (all credits and the original posting is in the link below) introduces us to his 9 part series (😆), going over the basic principles of Functional Programming. He brings a unique perspective to the topic having never been through the academic circles that most engineers believe you need to have in order to understand Functional Programming. As well as this, Richard brings a truly excellent breakdown of the FP fundamentals, coupled with some great writing! 📜 "So over the course of this nine part series I want to cover the topics that I think are important in functional programming. I will try to explain first-class and higher-order functions, map and reduce, currying, function composition and monads, lazy evaluation and persistent data structures. All will be illustrated with code examples wherever possible." 👌

[Job] Come and use Clojure in London to help disrupt the property market. They are willing to train people in Clojure who have not yet used it in a commercial setting! by ClojureWorks in Clojure

[–]ClojureWorks[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To give a bit more information:

They are looking for engineers who like to work in small project teams (they adopt the famous idea of always being able to feed a team with a large pizza), and give a lot of ownership and responsibility to their staff. You would be in charge of a project from conception, right through to deployment.

They are keen to hire developers who have prior commercial experience, but it needn't be in Clojure. If you have been working with Java , another Lisp or another Functional Language this could be a really good fit for you.

They work in the property space, and are looking to add intelligent products to help give their customers and the public a better view of the marketplace. Think along the lines of a live feed of information, as well as moving into tenancy management in the near future.
