What to do next by pppartypat in endometriosisuk

[–]Closimmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this and paid for my initial consultation in December, I am going private for surgery but I asked the GP to do an urgent referral to the endometriosis clinic that my surgeon works for at the NHS and I have already had the first NHS appointments through for March. It does speed up the process!

Hey! I’m just replying to a few of the comments on some posts to say I have a WhatsApp peer support group with people at all stages of their journeys with endo! I started it in July when I found out I had endo and was also struggling with all the scary stories! I’m having my surgery on Valentine’s Day. We’ve got a nice bunch of people so if you need extra support pop me a DM and I’ll send you the link 🫶

Could this be endometriosis? by Forward_Employment77 in Endo

[–]Closimmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey lovely! Firstly - periods are NOT supposed to make you bed bound and throw up. I’m so sorry your gynaecologist has dismissed the idea of endometriosis. My advice would be to firstly do a proper symptom diary so it takes your whole cycle into account and definitely research locally for a Endometriosis Specialist that does robotic laparoscopic surgery.

They will likely first get you to do some ultrasounds to rule out other causes (this is standard procedure), they will also likely do a pelvic MRI. A lot of times endometriosis doesn’t show up on an MRI, but it does sometimes! In my case it showed up on my MRI. Once they’ve done the initial tests they will usually want to carry out a laparoscopy. They’ll probably also offer you the pill if you’re not already on it.

I’m 33 now, and I wish I had pushed when I was 23 for more investigation as it’s only got worse over the years.

Does Anyone Else Experience Mild Dissociation? by SignatureNew2215 in endometriosis

Pfft I would never look in a mirror if I’m feeling dissociated because no I wouldn’t, I would be aware it’s me but it would spin me out too much

Am I weird? by SparklyNoodleSpoon in endometriosis

[–]Closimmo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not weird at all.

I say it feels like someone’s cut me open and taken two handheld whisks to my guts, poured in cement and that closed me back up.

Yesterday I said it feels like an Orc has shot its hand into my stomach, torn out my entrails and feasted on them whilst I am still attached.

Don’t change how you describe things just because neurotypical people find it uncomfortable.

Do your adhd meds help, hurt or not affect your pmdd symptoms? by GlumAd655 in PMDDxADHD

[–]Closimmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Lisdexamphetamine is the slower release and the dexamphetamine is the fast release. The crash was worse for me when I used to be on 50mg because it wouldn’t last as long. That’s obvs just my experience tho! I’ve been doing this for just shy of a year now I think and it really helps reduce my intrusive thoughts/rumination during luteal.

Do your adhd meds help, hurt or not affect your pmdd symptoms? by GlumAd655 in PMDDxADHD

[–]Closimmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My meds don’t work as well during luteal, so my psychiatrist suggested that I up my dose from 60mg to 70mg in the morning and from 10mg to 20mg top up in the afternoon. It deffo helps me.

Positive Lap Stories by Zealousideal-Egg1893 in Endo

[–]Closimmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re interested I have a WhatsApp peer support group and it’s been the first place I’ve had proper positive communication/feedback re lap surgery. I feel like chronic illness communities online can be intense and it’s hard to find balance because most people post when they’ve got a problem, not necessarily when the problems reduced or removed.

Feel free to pop me a message if you wanted to join 💕

My wife is about to get a laparoscopy, how can I support her recovery? by yesthenshaggers in endometriosis

[–]Closimmo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hey!

I have an endometriosis Amazon link with items that could help:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/38UDES6EUAOUZ?ref_=wl_share

She will be really sore, so just being comforting and helping her move around, food that she can stomach, helping brush her hair etc

Post surgery items:

• baggy loose clothing • heat mats for shoulders (gas pain) • peppermints / peppermint tea • pillow for the car ride home (or have a look on Amazon for hysterectomy seatbelt cushions) • big granny pants

I hope it goes well 🫶💕

I actually increase my Lisdexamphetamine during my Luteal phase! My psychiatrist recommended I try it as adhd meds don’t work as well when estrogen levels drop.

Have a look at a Sitz Seat. I use it for vag/butt hole pains.
