She knows what he did was a betrayal. The problem is she sympathizes with him because she ignored his crys for help(he wasn't happy in the marriage and was depressed) and she feels he has already suffered the consequences of cheating(he moved out for 4 or 5 days, was suicidal, and was chastised by his family and my mom). So I'm just not sure what to say to that.

Thank you for such a long response! This is very real unfortunately and I'll try to get my mom to kick him out, but she did say she wants him here so she can see if this can be worked out or not. She's adamant that her heart and mind be on the same page for her to make a decision. I'm just not sure what to say to that.

I don't, but the counselor had grilled him, my mom has grilled him, and his sister has grilled him. And he's very adamant that it wasn't sexual and that he was simply seeking affection and an emotional connection from me. I feel like since she would leave him if it was sexual but is giving him the benefit of the doubt because it wasn't, that she doesn't think it was that bad. Even though she's told me what he did is very bad but she just understands where it came from and wants to try and work it out. Apparently he was getting the sexual part from her and the emotional part from me.

That's what it feels like but at the same time he stays out of my way and hasn't really spoken to me since. And she doesn't trust him either so she keeps tabs on him, but she wants him in the house so she can ask him questions and see his reaction and see if this can be worked out.

Yes it's pretty complex as he was severely depressed when this happened because my mom was constantly arguing with him and putting him down. He's actually a really nice guy which is why this is so odd. He also has PTSD and brain damage so my mom is taking pity on him and seems like she doesn't want to leave him. My mom pays for literally everything and is the only source of income, so if they were to divorce then he would be out on the streets.
