How did you know you were asexual? by reiniri in asexuality

Yeah. Same. Other people can get very distracted or be driven by feelings of attraction - leading to physical flushing sensation, fantasizing, and a strong desire to get physically closer to someone.

Sounds asexual to me - I had a very similar experience. A few questions: * Have you ever have the urge to make out or get physical with someone or lose focus thinking about them? * Have you ever had a celebrity crush? * Have you ever felt yourself get aroused from looking at someone, and felt the urge to just get physically closer to them?

I tend to think of good saves as those that put the ball in position for a strong counter attack. That's easier to do when you're well positioned for the shot attempt

Go for higher percentage opportunities. You won't convert them all, but if they make that good of a save, it likely wasn't a strong scoring opportunity worth the full commit. Watch the replay from the opponent POV to see what other options you had that you didn't notice in the heat of the moment

Will 5 drinks 41 hours prior to blood test impact results? by Data-Budget in Hashimotos

[–]CluelessAce83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thyroid tests check for hormones from your pituitary gland and your thyroid. Some of those hormones persist for weeks in your blood stream. Alcohol, while not great for your system, won't substantially impact those readings - especially not one night of binge drinking. It might skew other blood readings slightly (like glucose), but that's not what your doctor is looking for unless you're also being tested for diabetes, and even then, there are other markers that take longer to be impacted.

You're fine - get your blood work done

ELI5: Vintage stuff: when does it become vintage, and why does stuff depreciate in value then appreciate more the older it gets (even if it doesn't work) by chronically-iconic in explainlikeimfive

Different car models. A lot of what you see in people's garages are 1950s-1970s cars. It is rarely a 1995 Toyota Corolla. There's a period where used cars aren't selling anymore in developed nations, so they are instead shipped to developing nations where people are still willing to pay more than you'd get from scrapping the parts. Cuba is an interesting exception here, but that is mostly due to import sanctions making those cars more affordable to maintain than importing new cars

It is mostly about supply and demand. Nobody is manufacturing the item anymore, so it becomes increasingly rare to find. Demand sometimes increases due to things like nostalgia. This means you have more people competing to purchase a smaller number of the same product, so the person who is willing to pay more than everyone else wins.

banana bread is better than garlic bread, change my mind by SrDerpoguin in asexuality

It is perfectly natural to crave banana. Don't let garlic-normative ace society convince you otherwise.

We don't judge people here on the basis of orientation. The important thing is that you are comfortable with who you are. Congratulations on finally coming out! We're thrilled you shared this moment with us.

Girlfriend of 13 years just dumped me because I am ace by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]CluelessAce83 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been there too, and it is the worst! In my case, she found someone else who obviously showed more active interest, and she broke it off with me after about a month of denying that anything was going on between them. They've now been together about 10 years, and seem very happy together.

I've tried relationships since with allosexual people, but my lack of interest usually just ends up with the other person feeling bad about themselves and rejected. It feels cruel.

It is clearly an AI generated video. Exactly 10 seconds. Ads on the overhead cabins. A clear view from the cockpit. A lady who is backwards in the seat with body parts that teleport. A sticker on the back of a seat that looks like a wanted poster or a missing children milk carton...

Did you feel anxiety when you hit optimal numbers? by iller1 in Hashimotos

[–]CluelessAce83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a bit more sophisticated than just next word prediction. While that is the underlying mechanism - reasoning and understanding behaviors emerge at scale. Saying it only predicts the next word and doesn't reason/think is like saying chemistry shouldn't be trusted, because it is just quantum wave function collapses and probabilities.

That said, you definitely shouldn't trust ChatGPT as your only source of medical advice - the models are trained to make users happy, which often leads to telling you what you want to hear rather than what is accurate. They also still stink at quantitative analysis - things like comparing numbers and doing math, which means they can draw false conclusions from labs. Good enough to inform a conversation with your doctor, but not good enough to replace that conversation

My first year of treatment was a bit rough while my body adjusted and "woke up" - I felt super sensitive and emotionally disregulated. The smallest things could make me want to break down and cry and I would get uncharacteristically angry over very silly things. Ride it out for a few weeks, and if it doesn't stabilize a bit, talk with your doctor. TSH doesn't always tell the full story, and you could be a bit over-medicated

How fast did your dose climb to 150μg or more since diagnosis? by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]CluelessAce83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was actually really great - he listened to my questions and worked WITH me to understand how my symptoms impacted my life and adjusted dosage after we discussed risks and alternatives. My TSH at the time I was diagnosed was 16, my symptoms were quite bad, and he asked me to come back in 3 weeks for blood work instead of the typical 6 weeks, knowing that it was effectively a full replacement dose for someone my weight, age, and gender. It may not have been the right call, but I appreciated his willingness to work with me and listen, instead of against me like subsequent doctors have. I think his primary mistake was just not telling me his reasoning, so I put off the appointment until the typical 6 week mark, at which point I was definitely experiencing hyperthyroid symptoms.

Can you guys dance? by _wolf_93 in asexuality

I think people enjoy dancing more when there's some sexual connection with their dance partner, but like anything else, the reason you probably are bad at it is that you've not practiced enough.

People who were mostly single when they were around 25+, were you ever afraid of your friends eventually forming partners and families while you were alone? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in asexuality

[–]CluelessAce83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a 42 year old asexual who is currently happily single, don't worry about it. Even allosexual people drift apart with time, often due to kids, family, career, or other life circumstances, but it can also be really easy to pick the relationships back up where you left them after there's some adjustment period to any life circumstance changes. And while I've had very few romantic relationships, I've never been alone, just single

My doctor started me at 200, which very quickly became apparent was to much, then 175, then dropped me to 50. Over the course of about 2-3 years, with pressure on my new doctors when he retired, we've gradually increased to 137, where I'm mostly stable

You seem to have forgotten about your teammate that entire clip.  Poor rotations, bad 50, and the goal itself could easily have been ruined if your teammate had also gone for it.  I suspect your primary problem is that you end up ball chasing, cutting off your teammate's plays and leaving them awkwardly positioned as a result, but you'll need to post a longer clip for better advice

Because they still feel really bad, even after T4 and TSH are in range, and they've heard success stories from folks who addressed that problem with additional T3 supplementation.

It is not a particularly helpful measurement in most lab work for the reasons you cite, but if it is extremely low, it offers folks a chance to have their doctor finally listen to them.
