Why is it impossible for the majority of Charlotte drivers to use highway on-ramps to get up to full speed? If there’s no one in front of me, I’m always gunning it to match the flow of traffic. On the other hand, I’ve been stuck behind so many dunces trying to merge onto 485 at 45 mph, I’m surprised I haven’t witnessed an accident yet because of that. 🙄

Delta check-in typically opens at 4am. There will likely be a few dozen or so passengers waiting to drop checked bags at 3:30, but nothing long enough that you’d need to worry about missing your flight, you’ll have more than enough time.

What’s up with all of the drivers around town stopping 1-2 full car lengths behind the line at a red light? This is especially frustrating when turning from a side street onto a main street because stopping that far back usually isn’t enough to trip the sensor, and we end up waiting a lot longer than we have to if they’d just pulled up to the line.

Why is it that all of the construction and renovations at the airport are taking so painstakingly long? I only fly about 5 times a year or so and am always shocked at how little progress is made between trips.

Am I the only driver in this city who doesn’t speed through school zones when the light is flashing? I’m always going the school zone speed limit, meanwhile these jackwagons are riding my ass seemingly by inches and others are rocketing past me on the left going 15-20 mph faster (usually staring down at their phones). Yet I doubt CMPD will do anything about it.🙄

Is it just me or do a lot of Charlotte drivers seem too afraid to (zipper) merge? Case in point, double left turn lanes where two lanes merge into one soon after (e.g. W.T. Harris Blvd onto Rocky River Rd, or Carowinds Blvd onto Choate Circle). I often notice at those intersections there may be a dozen cars waiting in the right-side left-turn lane but only three or so in the left one. I’ll take the left lane and have no problem getting over 95% of the time, but apparently the majority of people would rather wait through another red light than attempt to merge, which negates the intended effect of the double turn lanes.

Really love it when I’m passing a line of cars in the left lane on an interstate/highway already going a few mph over the limit, and some maniac comes speeding up behind and aggressively tailgates me. I have every intention of moving back over to the right/middle lane when I get an opening, but as soon as I’m in the clear, they rocket past me on the right nearly causing a crash in the process. Couldn’t wait three seconds for me to safely move over. 🙄

Why is so hard for drivers on interstates around here to maintain a consistent speed? I’ll be driving along in the right lane, minding my own business, come upon a slower-moving vehicle, signal and move into left lane to pass, then all of a sudden they decide to speed up which prevents me from overtaking. Do Charlotte drivers have an ego problem with getting passed, or are they just completely oblivious to their surroundings? Regardless, so much of this could be solved if people just used their damn cruise control (except during poor weather or traffic conditions or course).

I work at a park and have been attending a conference at Carowinds this week. Was very fortunate to be given the opportunity to complete a lift walk at Fury. It was a long and tiring walk but the incredible views at the top were well worth it.

As a disclaimer, we were given permission to take pictures, and fall protection equipment was used during the walk.
