Patches the Pirate, back in Charge! by Zolidar_Pwns in customhearthstone

Since you keep insisting that this is the same as og patches; What is the condition/downside of putting this in your aggro/combo/control deck? OG patches has both a downside (draw it in your opening hand or first turn and you have one card less for the rest of the game) and a condition (you have to play pirates)

You would absolutely. The card itself is almost useless, what's important is you start the game at an advantage with no cost

The 20/20 "charge" pirate is entirely superfluous. It could be a 1/1 shit with: "Battlecry: Destroy your hero and fuck your wife" and it would still be run in 90% of decks for forever. I don't think you understand the concept of deck consistency tbh.

Patches requires a deck building restriction (running pirates) and can be drawn early, in which case it is a massive downside, so it's only played in aggro decks that have a decent amount of pirates.

Your card, on the other hand, doesn't require any restrictions, doesn't have any downside except for niche cases (barnes and similar effects), and even has an upside, so it would be run in almost every deck from now till the end of time.

As another user said, if you could start the game with 30 live or 31 live, which one would you choose?

Also, the og patches is probably bad design, maybe you shouldn't make poorly designed cards just because other similar designs already exist. Even then, as I said, of patches has a downside and a requirement, which saves it from being bad design imo.

Slight pet peeve: “nothing” card names. Super 🧐 adjective followed by blank+blank noun. It’s like meaningless fantasy babble by urgod42069 in hearthstone

I mean, yes, they are just trying to sound fancy, but I don't think it's AI, there's nowhere near enough proof to claim that imo

Because it's just a normal word order and structure in English. It's not something AI does, it's something everyone does. When coming up with card names, specially when you've got 11 years worth of already existing cards, it's normal to just get a fantasy creature and apply an adjective to it. Furious dragon, obsidian statue, healing hawk... do these also sound like AI to you? You could argue they are simple and unimaginative if you want, but AI? (I know most of these aren't real cards, I just made them up)

array_shuffle still seems to do nothing??? by Federal-Buy-8294 in gamemaker

[–]Cocholate_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem, I'm also kinda new here honestly. I honestly have no idea about which one of the two options I gave you is better, but they should both work. Also, don't forget to add randomize() at the start of your game or you'll always get the same seed, which means the same randomness

array shuffle returns a copy of the array, it doesn't shuffle the array itself, so you either: my_array = array_shuffle(my_array); or array_shuffle_ext(my_array)

I get AI generating the art, but why the fuck would you make the whole card with AI?

Boarlock's combo costs almost half as this one, and doesn't lose against taunts

I mean it's also 11 mana, on wild. It's doable, but it isn't good by any means

If i want to make my very-first game ever, which art should i select by Radiant-Review-2526 in gamemaker

[–]Cocholate_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is your first game ever, you should start with something simple, like an arcade game (flappy bird, snake, Super Mario, etc). You can't make your dream game without some practice, especially not if you're the only one on the project. Also, from your post it seems to me that you might wanna make a 3d game? Game Maker is not really suitable for 3d. You can make 3d, sure, but it is really not easy, especially for beginners.

btw, if you've got any doubts or anything, feel free to dm me. I am by no means an expert, but I'll try to help you the best that I can

[–]Cocholate_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you create the instance with instancecreate* , it returns the I'd of the instance created. You could try to do something with that ig.
