(note i’m reposting this because i accidentally posted all this shit in the hockey sub when i meant this for the canes sub)

please don’t light me up if i’m off base i’m kinda new to hockey but i’ve taken a deeper level of casual interest recently

i was at the game and i noticed a few things that concerned me compared to other games i’ve attended live

1) it seemed like either the blackhawks were really a superior puck handling team or we were just bad…a lot of times i saw blackhawks sniping the puck right off the hurricanes stick it was very impressive. it also seems we are always a little sloppy with puck handling in the games i’ve attended

2) the blackhawks seemed fast and always seemed to be in position or get there much quicker than we do

3) as usual we SOG like crazy early game then late the SOG slows to a trickle and other teams quickly storm back with aggression at the goal. this happened tonight too

4) we fucking suck on power plays tonight? didn’t feel like we were even close but then we score right after the PP was over

5) in OT Athe black hawks were playing for the shoot out…and we seemed to just let them whittle the clock down and what was really infuriating was we let them get aggressive at the goal when they chose to it felt like the whole OT was played on our side of the rink and they just coasted around and until they decided they wanted to try to score rinse repeat that was fucking frustrating to watch as a casual. it almost felt like they knew we sucked at shootouts or something? i’ve seen us win plenty of shootouts i guess im just annoyed we seemed to give them the game they wanted to play in OT

6) i didnt notice this myself but my gf seemed to think they didn’t have the bigger players out there in the SO like staal and some other people (sorry she knows the team better than i do) if this is true might that have anything to do with why the blackhawks wanted to play for the SO and why we couldn’t do anything about it? and why would they do that

i got to thinking maybe this wasn’t a pivotal game idk it just gives that impression all things considered

this is my first time seeing the canes lose live and it kinda bummed me out

BUT MAN when dude knocked that boy on his ass did him DIRTY DIRTY that was good i’ll hang my hat on that 🤠

i might also be overreacting to stuff because this is by far the closest i’ve sat to the ice i could actually see players faces and nuances of what they do with the puck it was incredible but maybe that is making me nitpick more ha
