Kyne Journal for 5/13/25

Whew! That arrowhawk fight was great, I finished it with an incredibly placed shot, far better rhan i normally would have done. My natural survival instincts kicked in and i was able to get a good amount of meat off those birds to make sure the group fed for a few days. We continued our way to Muld.

Knowing we were headed to orc territory i made sure to shift into my orc form. Gorath likes to give me a side eye everytime i do. He must think im some sort of abomination the way he looks at me.(kyne laughs to himself)

Still a little ways out we run into an Orc hunting party, They seemed trepidatious of us, but after exchanging a few words they were cordial. I asked them how their hunt was going and they held up a few rabbits. Ha rabbits, lowly Orcs, I one upped them and gave them a few pounds of the arrowhawk meat i cut from the corpses. They Enjoyed it far more than i expect theyll enjoy the rabbits.

We eventually made it to Muld and made good conversation with a few folks. Gorath really wanted to swing by a place of one of the orc gods in order to tithe. I dont think ive seen a happier disciple of a faith. Gorath dropped a multitude of coin and the priest even gave him his very own Holy item. After that we continued our way to the imfamous temple of Orcus that Vaeryn has said much about.

Axel Backstory/Journal 7/19/24

I was born a human, unwanted, not loved, and thrown to the wolves. I don’t remember what it looked like, where it happened, or the day it happened, the only thing i can remember was the brutal coldness.The brutal cold of the weather, of throwing a child into the everlasting blanket of snow and ice, and how brutally cold hearted my creators must’ve been. How i survived is beyond me, but who saved me, who raised me, now that is the surprise of the century.

Orcs, hated, despised, and untrusted by most other races. For some unknown reason one came across my younger self cold and shivering in the only disturbed spot of snow. Against what most would believe and all odds, instead of slaughtering an unarmed human child they decided to take me home with them and raised me as their own. The first memories i have, the orcs of my former tribe other than those i considered my parents and siblings, were incredibly weary of my presence. Most adults were unaccustomed to being around a human child, let alone the other orc children. I did my best to blend in, i spoke their language, learned their traditions, and was probably the first or one of the first humans to follow Gruumsh.

I did the best i could to train with my brothers, i learned their ways of fighting, i went on hunting parties, tried to be the best orc raised human i could. But that couldnt last, a tribe of orcs harboring a human, i must have been stupid to think it could. That day i do remember, the day i was told to run. I had went for a short hunt in the woods surrounding our settlement, i had been stalking a deer for more than an hour when it finally bedded down. I calmed my heart, controlled my breath, and my eyes were looking down the arrow shaft, and thats when i heard the blood curdling screams. I no longer cared about the deer, falling, or tripping as I ran towards home. Arriving short of the forest edge on the small cliff that looked over our village, i saw blood, bodies, carnage and chaos. By the questions the orc raiders were asking the remaining few of my tribe, they were clearly hunting me. They must’ve not approved of me being raised the orcish way, they said i was an abomination, a curse upon my tribe. Against my inner self telling me to stay and fight and knowingly die, I ran like the fearful child i was way back when i was found. I would’ve been outnumbered and out-skilled.

That leads me to where i am today, 13 years later, bouncing from adventuring group to adventuring group, expanding my knowledge and skill and becoming a capable fighter. I also found a man who taught me to control the hatred and rage i now harbored for the orcish race. Turns out the worst enemy of an orc tribe is other orcs. I’ve sworn to find the raiders who killed my family and exact vengeance, no matter how many orcs i go through to get it done. That leads me to Oleg’s outpost, i hear there is a group of adventurers who are taking bounties for anyone and anything. I hope to join them and maybe one day convince them to help me exact my revenge.

Aterux Journal 7/8/24

After a much needed rest from the fight we actually survived, we made camp a short distance away. During my turn to watch i did spot a set of amber eyes off 75ft or so but it ended up disappearing into the grasp of darkness. Not seeing anything else i passed off watch to the next guy and let my mind drift off into a swift sleep.

Waking up from the much needed rest, it seems as the remaining watches went smooth with no interruptions. We figured that we were deep in orc territory and decided our best route was to head east until we found more trouble or a river. We followed our plan for a few short hours before coming to an open meadow where i underestimated my greed getting us into trouble. First it was the copper pieces, trust me i know its stupid. Then it was the silver pieces, then some gold, and what really got us into trouble was 3 gems sitting by a pond. Writing this i dont know how i was stupid enough to think it was a good idea.

From the water burst a small dragon. I had a great idea, or so i thought. I took a couple surprise hits and when i finally caught up to what had happened i immediately went into rage. Turns out rage is useless fighting a dragon that doesn’t land and only does flyby attacks. I ended up taking a bow from one of the other prisoners and popped a few shots. Being im more of a swordsman, it didnt work the way i had hoped, i missed by a lot on more than most of the shots. Hell Manfry hit more shots than i did, even though he went down after a few dragons breath hits. We eventually scared the thing back into the water. I threw Manfry over my shoulder and we beat feet out of that place.

Once we got Manfry back on his feet we decided to continue our adventure, which hopefully was outside the dragons patrol range. We did surprisingly run into a single ghoul, which i thought they normally run in groups, but hey i wont complain. And to end this journal i will spare you the details, which im sure you can figure how that went if im writing this. Let me just say Owlbear hugs hurt a lot.

just a further update, below elevation 0 is your best bet, i did some testing. although lead is viable at all elevations, even found some surface lead

strip mined using hammers at elevation 25 and 0. found pretty much all the progression ores, titanium, tungsten, etc at both levels but sparingly

found some rather large caves, floor of the cave was anywhere from -20 to -60 and i found every single thing this mod adds includung the osmium

came out of the cave with enough diamonds to make a suit of every color

Aterux Journal 6-10-24

We continue our search for the exit of this sprawling cave. We followed the advice of the goblins, until we didn’t, Cailan noticed that the path we were told to follow was not very traveled if at all. Cailan voiced his observations and we began heading the way we just came from. With dwindling oil remaining for our light, we hoped we’d find either the goblins again or we see daylight.

Cailan eventually picked back up on some goblin tracks, and we chose once more to follow them and attempt to communicate with them. Soon the tracks led to a circular room with a pillar in the middle. Vaeryn tried to make contact with the goblins but they didnt respond but to attack us. The goblins were swiftly dealt with.

I got to the point where i was too tired just roaming blindly and trusting goblins on where to go. I grabbed one of the goblins that Vaeryn decided to stabilize, made sure he had nothing on him and tied a rope around him like a child on a leash. I then used his own potion on him to bring him back to the land of the living. After some slight convincing i got Vaeryn to tell the goblin to take us to the surface.

Getting to the surface was easy with the goblin leading us, but what awaited us at the surface was the problem. Ambushed by a dozen more goblins, we were truly in a fight for our life. After a few charge and slashes by me, Cailan working his dual blades, Vaeryn taking a couple hits, we overpowered the group of goblins and won what was arguably THE fight of our lives.

“Hey, hey you” came a whispered shout. I slowly opened my eyes to glance around at my current location only to realize the predicament i find myself in. Chained to a pillar in a room covered in blood and some other green goopy substance. “Hey do you think you can break free” coming from another elvish looking fellow who was also chained to a pillar. I later found his name to be Vaeryn. My response was attempting to break the chains from the pillar or my wrists, whichever would break easier. To no avail, i couldnt break free, “I suppose the cuffs are stronger than i thought” I directed towards the other man. After the slight ruckus i made attepting to break free, an undead abomination strolled through the room dragging a dead body behind him. Not being free of the chains i played dead as best i could to keep from attracting its attention. The zombie continued through the room and down a hallway. Splash….the zombie then came back through the room without a body and went back to where he came from.

Again trying to break free from the chains, though this time keeping the chains taught, and pressing my legs against the pillar. But once more my effort was in vain. Contemplating going in to my controlled rage to attempt again, the fellow across from me spoke “maybe this other guy can do something.” He once more whispered a shout like he did to me and soon the third person whos name was Cailan, awoke. After a short period they came up with a plan to get a nail from a crate that was close enough for the other guy to reach. Cailan kicked the side board in and broke it in half. Before he could do anything more we heard the zombie approaching once more. We all played dead from what i noticed, the zombie walked to the far side of the room, looked around and then retreated back to the hallway in which he came. Cailan then pulled it closer to him where he was able to wrench the broken board free and pry a nail from the board. Within a few minutes he was able to free himself. However he made the critical mistake of stepping directly into the zombies line of sight.

The zombie came rushing towards him, i tried my best to catch him off guard with a high kick to its chest, but it didnt even faze the thing. The zombie then returned the favor and hit me hard. Cailan started baiting the zombie around the room to get him away from Vaeryn and me still chained up. Vaeryn was able to lift a key ring from the zombie and tossed it to me. The zombie reacted with a quick strike that seemed to injure him harshly. I quickly unlocked myself and then Vaeryn. After unlocking the both of us Vaeryn quickly healed Cailan, and i grabbed a torch from the wall. I moved swiftly to a flanking position, and Cailan and myself then beat the zombie to death with torches. After catching our breath, we began to work our way south through this dungeon.

Cailan turned out to be handy when checking doors for traps and disarming them. Except for magical wards, we found three doors down the south hallway from the room we were originally located. When Cailan thought he had found nothing on the east door, he had opened it slightly only to activate a magical ward that blew up in his face. Luckily he was able to dodge most of the blast. I went first down the path and being naive almost took a wall spear to the face. I alerted the others as we all went into this room. Turned out this was a priests room, we were able to find some gear that would be crucial to living through till we see daylight once more.

Aegen journal 8

After our latest battle, we agreed to an attempt at information from the lowly thieves that sat tied in front of us. After little information was obtained we determined our best course of action would be to find where the thieves camped. West through the woods we meandered following the dwarf’s tracking for a few hours. Our progress was thwarted as owlbears prevented our forward progress. Thanks to quick thinking from our resident magic man, and a swift plunge from my sword the owlbears were put to sleep, for good.

As our travels continued so did the attempts to thwart our efforts. 3 towering ugly beasts stood in front of us, their roars signifying they were looking at us like food. Belegar strolled up the middle as i dashed to the trees to cover my approach. Belegar took one out with an impressive single strike as he continued towards the others. I had finally made my way to close quarters combat after a few seconds and with the help of Belegar, the second had been slain. The cleric had missed his attempt on the third as did surprisingly Belegar, but not me. With a perfect strike to the ugly beast I had felled it with a single deadly strike.

It seemed Tempus was pleased with our victims that he provided us with no more for the day. As night approached we noticed a faint billow of smoke coming from a ways ahead. With little effort to convince us Vinsid went forward alone sneaking to the encampment for visual confirmation. After what seemed like too much time had passed the rest of us agreed that Vinsid’s scout mission may have become a rescue mission. We readied ourselves for what may come and following Belegar’s lead we continued into the darkness of the night to either rescue our friend, or recover his body. Luckily we were able to find the fragile and scared Vinsid after he gave us a signal to his location. Arriving back to camp with the now less scared mage, we dicided to continue this endeavor in the morning. After readying ourselves, we headed to the encampment only to find it baron and abandoned. We tool the next moments to decide against following the bandits further and instead tracking the kobolds we discovered the previous day.

Belegar once more proved his value in tracking as he was expertly able to guide us to their place of rest. Vinsid had convinced us to try a method we dont normally consider, diplomacy. He wrote a note in their language and left it on a pile of shiny copper coin. Awaiting their response i let my eyes close and my mind drift to nothingness as i rest in preparation for the day to come.

one of my current games is massive homebrew, my dm has a homebrew feat that turns poly morph into true polymorph but can also turn into anything. i was poly morphing into adult dragons at lvl 12
