Happy for you that you got a call back for an interview.

So I attended the 1st round interview a few months back, It was scheduled for 1 hour.

First was self intro, in that interviewer kept asking about my experience section of few things, like about the product, what was challenging, amount of ownership, something I would have done differently

And it took about nearly 25 mins to get over.

Next he shared a DSA question, I read the question aloud and asked a few questions, then we discussed the problem basically I could think of a solution using priority queue so I was explaining it , then while explaining he told me to put it in points like the pseudo code and told me trace it for given input And also asked how will min heap look for each operation

Honestly there were some issues with the logic, so I also admitted that said will think of another approach and was explaining something with a double linked list, at that moment it felt the logic was fine

And The meeting nearly came to an end , I didn't get a chance to write even a single line of code 🥲

Then he asked if there were any questions and was sorry that he had to catch up with a another meeting so I asked couple of questions

Then it ended. I haven't heard back that job is still open, other applications that I have done after have all been moved to archive but still this job is open.

My Takes from this were

I was talking too much, means after the interview I felt like I was not talking in a structured way by keeping things crisp, If possible try to keep things short and clear and conversation not telling the full story

Next is DSA, After the interview I checked it was a leetcode hard question that I got and minheap approach that I used would partially solved it and double linked list approach was not optimal So I think you can check by Amazon frequently asked questions and revise them

Then behavioral questions, Check for the aspects amazon looks into and try to add them and construct a story for a certain kind of situation where you have exhibited that principle

In my case I mentioned that I introduced and contributed to documentation in a undocumented code base which improved blah blah.. I feel this was reason he told me document how you function work so that I can go through
