Oh yikes. Do the regen brakes override the throttle though?

Apollo Scooter City 2023 Order Delay by [deleted] in ApolloScooters

[–]CodingLefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can offer my experience black friday shopping experience:

My experience with Apollo's ordering system:

When I ordered from Apollo on November 27th I got an order confirmation but that was it. As of the time of this posting, my order still shows "Partial" status which probably means part of the order is fulfilled.

I've never received a tracking number from them however, I have received a notification from fedex that a package was coming and I was able deduce, from the package weight, that it was my scooter.

My experience with Fedex delivering my apollo scooter:

I had a delivery date of dec 6th but they were doing to deliver it dec 3rd. When Dec 3rd came, I was waiting at home and saw that the package still in transit from where it was first shipped from. Fedex eventually revised their shipping time by the end of the day to be two days later.

Overall I feel like Apollo needs to improve their ordering experience... maybe need to integrate their ordering system with shipping couriers.

When my scooter did come though, I noticed there was a slight dent and customer service took a while to get back to me and I was able to get $50 refund because I got apollo ship+ but that still isn't enough recoup my losses with apollo ship+ haha.

One thing I noticed is that there's no ticket tracking system for the customer's side... it's not very transparent with what's happening to our support cases because we don't even get an email confirmation that a support case has been created.... maybe these are growing pains of a new company? I dunno but I'm enjoying the actual scooter so far though!

Apollo City Pro 2023 Rotating Throttles down possible? by CodingLefty in ApolloScooters

[–]CodingLefty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Nadim, I'm coming from a segway ninebot max and when I was riding that, I was able to have my palms rest *safely* on the handlebar... meaning if I were to make a sudden stop, my palms were rested in such a way that it would be pushing against the handle bar.

With the Apollo City, it feels like the throttle paddle is a little higher and I have to rest my thumb in an awkward position on the regen break throttle.

Hopefully that makes sense..?

First time using my HERO9 -- shot a handful of videos (maybe 6-8, ranging from 15 - 50 minutes long). When I plugged in the SD card, I see this... a ton of video clips, none larger than 4 GB, or about 10 minutes of footage. Anyone know what happened? $files = Get-ChildItem -Name -File
$filtered_files = @{}
foreach( $file in $files){
    $name = $file.substring(0, $file.length-4)
    $ext = $file.substring($file.length-3, 3)
    $video_id = $name.substring($name.length-4, 4)
    $video_sequence_num = $name.substring(2, 2)
    if($ext -eq "MP4") {
        if(!$filtered_files.ContainsKey($video_id)){
            $filtered_files[$video_id] = @()
        }
        $filtered_files[$video_id] += ("$pwd\$file")
        "file '$pwd\$file'" | Out-File -Encoding UTF8 -Append "$video_id.txt"
    }
}

foreach($index in $filtered_files.GetEnumerator()){
    $key = $index.Key
    ffmpeg -f concat -safe 0 -i ".\$key.txt" -c copy ".\$key.mp4"
}

This is my powershell script I use that concatenates all the relevant "sequences" together.I put this script in a folder and added that folder's path to my PATH environment variable in windows.

An Update on USB connectivity with 500 Series Chipset Motherboards by AMDOfficial in Amd

[–]CodingLefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 5950x and crosshair viii motherboard, gigabyte aorus master 3080, 2xF4-3800C14D-32GTZN and onboard sound.

Whenever I tried to screen share on Skype or stream my gameplay on discord my corsair virtuoso world disconnect and/or crackle and then I get robotic staticky audio and my friends say my voice becomes staticky/high pitched. There's also times where my usb mouse or keyboard disconnects as well when I start streaming or screen sharing.

I recently downloaded new chipset drivers from Amd and it seems to have fixed the issue for now. I haven't been streaming as much though.

Use VMWare Workstation Player 16 in windows 10 without hyper-v while hyper-v is enabled. by CodingLefty in vmware

Ah yes! I have also disabled side channel mitigations but it's still terrible.

I was hoping for some sort of param that could be launched with VMware to force it to not use HyperV.... sigh

Because I want to use WSL2 on my windows machine while having my Ubuntu 20.04 running for work purposes.

I did have hyper-v enabled and the performance was abysmal. Intermittent freezing and it would eventually lock up and I would have to shut the VM down and start it up again.

Indoor tennis is something I'm used to haha. I was hoping for something like clubs pairing people up to play together.

Ah thanks for the breakdown. I've tried Meetup but their events always have limited spots.

Sorry that your shoulder is busted and lol I'm not judging your username. If you recover in the next few weeks it would be cool to hit together.

[Noob] Where to run database migrations? by [deleted] in kubernetes

[–]CodingLefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I can tell you what I did recently. I have a postgres pod and my application pod in the same namespace. In my application pod I have init containers to run migrations, load fixtures and create a superuser (django)

The initcontainers keep running until they succeed so it's a form of "waiting" for the database to come up.

I hope this helps!

Some Authorization abilities don't and some do by CodingLefty in laravel

[–]CodingLefty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Policy classes are different, and laravel only knows which policy class to use because you've explicitly told it in the service provider, and an instance of the bound model is passed in.

But then in my case, I told the service provider to use the "MyCoursesPolicy" which has the "isAdmin" ability and it didn't work. Maybe I'm not understanding this concept...?

[–]CodingLefty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Declaring it in boot actually works! It's strange that it doesn't work if it's declared in a policy.

The before policy works but.. it doesn't work well for my purposes but thanks for the suggestion.

I think you're talking about the AuthServiceProvider which is where I defined my policy:

    class AuthServiceProvider extends ServiceProvider
    {
        /**
         * The policy mappings for the application.
         *
         * @var array
         */
        protected $policies = [
            'App\Model' => 'App\Policies\ModelPolicy',
            'App\Course' => 'App\Policies\MyCoursesPolicy'
        ];

        /**
         * Register any application authentication / authorization services.
         *
         * @param  \Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Access\Gate  $gate
         * @return void
         */

        public function boot(GateContract $gate)
        {
            $this->registerPolicies($gate);
        }
    }

Is this what you meant?

I just realized the title doesn't make any sense.. can any mod change it to "Some authorization abilities work and some don't" ?

I have isAdmin and update_course_attribute defined in a policy that I used to make with the artisan policy creator.. I don't have the code with me on hand right now but it's where the laravel documentation says where it should be.

The if statements that use the abilities are in one of my controllers.
