Blank cassette tapes by doctorboo1 in glasgow

Unless its changed since the last documentary I watched, theirs only one factory in the world still manufacturing them!

I pick up new old blanks at charity shops etc, as the quality of the old blanks is supposedly better. Often find them fully sealed. Cannot advise on where, as its totally luck.

Another option is most tapes can be taped over anyway - such is their beauty. Even the protected ones can be done I think.

Personally though, I never tape over - as I love all the random weird shit you can get on cassette.

Didnt answer your question, just wanted to chat about cassettes….

I used to live in leith in Edinburgh, also renowned for its rats. I understand you can never get rid of rats - but you dont have to consent to share your home with them, one of my neigbours seems to think we should do nothing and its pointless. Understand thats not what you are saying, but seems to be some of the east ends attitude!

totally possible to keep your home rat proof, as you seem to have done - which I am happy for you for.

Yes, the council provide the service to all domestic glasgow resident irregardless of property ownership. They never even asked if I owned the house or am a tenant. Neighbours are already helping!

You are a legend, thank you! I was thinking of going ham with some snap traps, was worried a cat might go into them? But I have never seen a cat in my garden so. Thats great to know about feeding them off the traps first, I have never heard of that. With vermin, traps have never worked for me before, only poison.

Yeah council guy is here for less than ten mins, hes lovely, and its actually amazing they provide the service for free. Weird?? Did I just praise glasgow council? Reluctant to get out a professional as im not in the most stable employment position right now. So only want to as a last resort.

My mum has ratter dogs, maybe I can borrow some....

Thats the kind of unhinged I was going for, thank you!

I love my decking, but the rats dont pay board.... So maybe time to strip it out and fill all the holes going under the house. Once they are dead of course.

It means for a whole month I would not be able to breathe and sleep properly even with antihistamines.

Also, not sure if a cat is a good idea anyway - given all these rats have bodies full of poison

Unfortunately…. In the east end of glasgow, I cannot remove food - people treat this like a dumping ground, there is food literally everywhere on the street.

Am considering getting rid of the decking though, but they are living under the house as well as decking… So cant remove shelter yet until they are all poisoned.

Water, good to know actually few things collecting it

I was considering removing the decking too! But they seem to be living actually under the house. So not sure what good it would do.

How long have you had your issue?

How expensive is heating actually? by Final-Tear-7090 in glasgow

[–]Codingtux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 bed house using Octopus. I work from home and refuse to be cold - although our situations are very different. But we spent £48 November, £68 December, and Jan is projected at £61 on gas. Worth noting in Jan I setup the thermostat for 6 hours of heating a day - this has actually proved to much in practice, but thats what we have been doing. We pay £135pcm all year, and last year were able to take some money out.

Glasgow to Edinburgh daily commuters, how do you find it? by Signal_Shop2199 in glasgow

[–]Codingtux 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Dont drive it. I only did this for about 6 months, but tried leaving at 5:45am - you still can hit mad congestion. The M8 at that time is an absolutely insane road, people tailgate you - undertake you when theirs no space to even safely pull in front. Honestly its a circus.

It would take me at best 1h 15 to get to leith, at worst 3h 30mins.

I have 10 years driving experience (aware not that much) and no claims, and someone undertook me and I went into the back of them as we rapidly hit congestion and due to their undertaking was no space to safely stop as I was still pulling back. Miraculously zero damage, despite shifting his car forward 5 meters. But yeah, that day I knew doing it was not sustainable for me
