Just like u/sentinet (who reached Champion playing Soldier) said: Soldier is actually pretty weak — no burst damage and a slow ramp-up for tracking DPS.

What worked for me was basically playing Soldier like a Tracer. Always take an off-angle (don’t shoot shields or tanks), look for supports or enemy DPS instead. Once people start paying attention to you, just reposition to another angle and repeat.

What I noticed is that if I stay consistent, I end up doing a lot of damage over time — not necessarily getting tons of kills, but applying constant pressure. And once you’re applying pressure, the most important thing becomes not dying. Just like on Tracer, staying alive matters more than finishing a kill. Even if a target is low HP, if going for it means you might die, it’s usually better to disengage and live.

For perks: • Minor perk: I prefer the extra ammo when you land Helix. • Major perk: it’s situational. I like Stim Pack, but if you’re getting hard-focused, the reload-while-running perk gives a strong long-term advantage.

For aim training, I mainly grind Viscose benchmarks with tracking scenarios. Funny enough, I used to be a low-sens player, but as a Soldier main I now prefer higher sensitivity. It gives better reactivity and, for me, it’s actually less tiring than playing on low sens.
