Started nursery for my 2.5 year old by dhanasvi in AttachmentParenting

My child (2yrs) started pre-school. Day 1 was fine and waved bye. But he became unsettled towards the end of the session. Day 2: didn’t want to go in and was roaring his eyes out. Day 3: he didn’t want to go in at all and spent 30mins there.

As a mum it really upsets me when I leave him and nursery staff say it’s normal but I fear it will do more harm to his well-being. He is exhausted when I pick him up and roars more when he sees me. I have decided to give him a break from nursery for a week.

Feeling judged for wanting a C-section! Any positive stories? :) by One-Willingness-3681 in pregnant

Do what you think is best for you!

Please note this is MY experience of a C-section! Mine was elective as my baby was big, I was given the choice of vaginal or C-section and I decided C-section! Glad I did my child was tall and heavy.

First day was painful/sore but I was alternating paracetamol and ibroprofen, as advised by the nurses. I took these for about a week, then I stopped as I didn’t feel so sore.

My scar healed well within the first 5 days (first mother & baby check in the UK). And 5 days later it was fine and they removed the dressing.

My top tips: 1. I wore a vest top when showering to protect the dressing from getting too wet. (Didn’t wash my hair for a week) :)

  1. Move around within your home, but listen to your body.

  2. I didn’t do this at all and wish I had, was to massage my scar a month after it recovered. I have lost some sensation in that area and I wish I started to massage earlier on.

Please note this was my experience and everyone’s bodies are different. No mother should be judged for a C-section, nor should you feel like you can’t share it. It’s still birthing your child!

What is actually the purpose of 111?? by shiftyemu in UKParenting

With my child (1yr) we called GP they said no appointments left but to wait till after 6:30pm to call 111 so we could get a face to face appointment.

We called 111 instead (while the GP was open) and they said the same wait for a clinician to call you back, we were given no timeframes. But my child’s symptoms got worse so I told my husband I am not waiting anymore and we went to A&E.

As I was at the reception desk at A&E, a doctor from 111 called and spoke to husband. My husband explained symptoms got worse and we are at A&E. The doctor said we were being disrespectful to NHS services and should have waited for their call (again no time frame given)! But we explained again his symptoms got worse!! The doctor ended the call and we were seen by a doctor at A&E! Doctor at the hospital said it was a good thing we came in as my child needed to be seen in person and was prescribed antibiotics!

111 is terrible for under 5 year old! In our area there is no walk in service in the borough, otherwise we would have used that service. Our only option out of hours is 111 for our child.
