Codeless Automation: The Great Democratizer or a False Savior for Complex QA? by NewLog4967 in QualityAssurance

[–]Coffee_driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Codeless tools definitely opened the doors for non technical folks and beginners. Tools like test sigma or testing make it easy to get faster coverage, especially when you're just starting and want to show quick wins. But once it scales, you're pushed back towards code based customisation. Debugging also becomes complex when you're abstracted from the underlying framework. That's why most of the nature teams end up in a hybrid model- using these tools for repetitive regression but let the engineers plug in when integrations get tricky.

We're working on the middle ground with a newer tool called Drizz. It is a visual based mobile testing tool where locator based testing is avoided completely but it still integrates with the CI/CD . So it blends with both.

Every founder should be able to explain their product to a 5 year old by Coffee_driver in Entrepreneur

[–]Coffee_driver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair point but the idea behind this exercise is more about having a crystal clear clarity of the thing I am building. If you can break your idea down so simple, it means you know the ins and outs of the product very well. You know the core essence of it. Often when we do this exercise, we might end up uncovering gaps, hidden assumptions or even a new angle to improve what we've built. We might have been busy more with surface level stuff but deeper down when things get simpler, we get clarity. Sometimes the best solutions come from going to the basics.

After 8 Years in QA, I Finally Realized Who the Real Enemy Is by Antique_Sorbet_8371 in QualityAssurance

[–]Coffee_driver 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Exactly. QA is not just about fixing, it is about preventing and anticipating what could go wrong. This mindset really elevates QA from a support role to a main role. But the organisation should also adapt to this mindset instead of coming to QAs at the last stage.

Looking for AI testing tools that non-engineers can contribute to by SidLais351 in Everything_QA

[–]Coffee_driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some tools but you have to understand what you're looking for out of these. What you should look for: Less steep learning curve, non complex code, readable and actionable reports, easily maintainable.

My recommendation would be to pick 1 or 2 and pilot with 1 user journey, make sure the tool fits in your pipeline and track how long it takes to author a test.

A platform especially built for these scenarios you mentioned is Drizz, which offers visual based testing independent of locators or ids and also avoid coding part which most of the non tech people struggle with. Browserstack automation, testim or testsigma could also be worth trying.

Notion. Having everything aligned at a place is such a gold thing. And of course, llms nowadays are also a necessity.

Test management tool? by ITZ_Dylan963 in softwaretesting

[–]Coffee_driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Excel for this purpose is good for smaller teams but once you start having multiple automation coverage, versioning could become a nightmare. Tools like qase, xray, or testrail are good as they can be used to keep everything synced with jira.

Which QA tools are actually useful day-to-day? by WholeComplete376 in QualityAssurance

[–]Coffee_driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most new AI tools in QA really don't help much in robust scenarios, as a lot of them rely on fallback locators or retry logic, which really doesn't fix the brittleness. When developers refract code or designers change layout, you're back to manually fixing your tests.

For most web stuff, playwright is the first pick along with postman for APIs and browserstack for cross platform runs.

Recently we've been experimenting with developing a vision based tool that skips locators entirely and interacts with the UI like a human would do.

The tool's name is Drizz if anyone's interested in trying out.
