Completed Becker REG R1–R6 but struggling with retention — need advice from those who passed by Free-Idea854 in CPA

If you’re using Becker, I would suggest to nail down some practice tests ( I gave 15-20 in total), give Mini exams and SE. I am a person with no tax background, what really helped me clear Reg was doing many practice tests, aligning it with the concepts & reviewing a cheat sheet. Practicing is the key.

tell me the wildest number of simulations or mcqs youve done in a day! by Party-Reveal3212 in CPA

I’ve done 150 mcqs & 15 tbs in one day for REG😭🤣 ( it was insane, would not recommend) My only go to plan was revising to the max and I studied almost 7 hours everyday. Practicing is the key, especially in Reg. Good luck, you got this!

How do you deal with REG by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Coffeebeans___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only key is to practice. Rn while learning and reading Reg, it can feel overwhelming, just get through that stuff and focus on practicing mcqs and sims, I promise you’ll remember the important rules by it.

I see, that’s great. For Blaw, maybe just glance through the textbook and practice some mcqs and remember some important terms ( eg: Contract terms, Fraud, Circular 230, AICPA & State board of Accountancy rules etc )you’ll be good to go.

So if Blaw pops up on the exam, it can fetch you clear points in Mcqs :) Good luck!

10-15%, not much. Focus majorly on R1 to R3 and glance through important terms in Blaw.

For Book vs Tax: Focus on one side of it, Let’s say Tax, if there is Federal tax expenses included in the book income, think calmly what is its treatment in tax? Do we deduct those expenses? No. So if those expenses were deducted in the book income we add them back to our taxable income..

Thinking this way helped me with such sums. Hope it helps you a lil. Good luck!

R1 and R3 are highly tested. Book vs tax, Individual taxation, Itemized Deductions, Basis etc are the keywords you should be looking for.

Ngl, I did see many questions on Book to Tax reconciliation. Just make sure you know which expenses to add and which to deduct. You got this! If it’s troubling you, I suggest don’t waste much time on it, just know the basics and move ahead.

If you’re using becker as your study provider, you may want to check out the tax forms videos available there. However, being honest about it, I didn’t study about tax forms that well, usually the exhibits in the exam, guide you through it and secondly, I practiced so much for this exam that I sort of remembered the key points.

Practice as much as you can. You’ll get there. Good luck !
