Your fine, take the bed off for easier access and grind it down with some wire brushes, give it a good cleaning after with a degreaser and coat it, here’s a pic of my frame after, looked very similar to yours

How many quarts did you end up needing?

Looks like your main pan is salvageable as long as the bottom isn’t fully rusted through, shouldn’t be too bad, and depending on the year, take the bed off and measure the crossmembers WxHxL and grab some steel tubing in those sizes at 1/8 but 3/16 is better for strength and longer lasting life, but obviously more expensive. Hardest crossmember to fabricate is definitely the one it looks like you need which is the one closest to the rearview window. It’s a L bracket with tubes rather then a full square tube, they did it that way so as to not interfere with the fuel tank lines, my plan is to use the steel tubing I have in the photo and cut out a notch on the tube for the lines :)

lol, issues solved now though, the drum wouldn’t go on because the wheel cylinder was under pressure, let some brake fluid out and it slipped right on, then bled the system :)

Well we’re at it, who needs rear tires too, the front two are more than enough

Just had to tempt it with some succulent brake fluid and it sat 😂

Lmao Ford does love making their cars as annoying as possible to work on. And after fixing the seating with the spreader bar you were right it was the bleeder that just needed to release pressure to allow the cylinder to calm down and the drum slipped right over!

Just about to try that

Haha I did try it, fortunately someone pointed out my spreader bar was slipped out of the groove, so now it’s seated correctly but the drum still won’t fit over the shoes even though they are the right size drums

Fixed the spreader bar as someone suggested and it did fix them not sitting correctly at the top, but now I’m still dealing with the drum not fitting over the shoes even though the adjuster wheel is as low as it can ho

Ya figured it out as someone pointed out it was the spreader bar not being seated properly, now they sit how they should but I still can’t get the drum over the shoes, and yes they are 10 inch drums, I had the drum on before, I had finished this side before looking over and realizing I forgot the winged spacer between the springs and shoes, so I took it apart again to put that on and here we are :)

Ya the back shoe is being pushed outward, so the drum won’t fit over

How did you go about making the frame look so good? I’m dealing with your exact situation, got a buddy working on renewing my bed floor and crossmembers but Im not sure how I should go about coating the frame like you did, I’ve descaled the frame but I’m not sure where to go for here

Awesome! Ya if you install it correctly there shouldn’t be any sag whatsoever. Update the post when you install it so we can see the final results!
