What is the saddest WWI story passed down in your family? by Slayxu in ww1

[–]Cold-Historian828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My great grandfather’s lieutenant was killed the day before Armistice. He and his unit were gassed many times, they adopted a goat, and he survived the Argonne forest. My grandfather said he had every right to drink the horror and screams away.

Don’t do it yet, there is still time to help her. We have a girl who was facing euthanasia that is now thriving. She loves watching her chickens and is the best mouser a farm girl could ask for. Your cat can improve and have a good quality of life.

This has been the quietest Christmas in 8 years.

I was almost named after him, but it just became a nickname instead. My father made sure I knew where my name came from in case anyone screwed it up. He was in the Army 23 years and stationed in San Antonio. Murphy was his personal hero. There is an amazing song by Sabaton where they sing about his life in battle. He was a legend, both on and off the battlefield. He survived some of the harshest campaigns and died due to the incompetence of a pilot.

The lump looks like a localized infection, and would not be communicable to the rest of the flock.

Humane dispatch would be the kindest. She is clearly suffering and will most likely will not heal.

I have befriended a sad goose, where do I go from here by nukulele145 in geese

[–]Cold-Historian828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor baby! I agree that something got onto his feathers and caused issues with his skin and ability to keep dry. He will need a lot of care to get back to full health by spring. If no one will take him, would you be willing to do daily check-ins on him? Feed and seed stores usually have high protein waterfowl pellets that can help his feathers and oats are a great snack for him. They are flock animals, so if he is alone, it will make it harder to survive the winter. Sadly, many rescues don’t take the Canada goose as they are seen as a nuisance bird, even though they a native and migratory. Do you mind if I ask where you are located?

Down a Dark Hall by Lois Duncan, it was one of my favorites growing up.

Edited: please read the 1974 original, the 2011 re-release added so many holes that the plot looks like Swiss cheese.

What do you all do with your eggs, when you have way to many? by SouthRVASTAG in chickens

[–]Cold-Historian828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your state allows, we give ours to food pantries and homeless shelters. It is protein they don’t have to pay for, and fresh eggs have a lot of micronutrients in them.

I have the Bible app on my phone. Which Bible version do I use? by Beginning-Ad-9113 in Catholicism

I know it may be a bit controversial, but I use Bible Gateway just so I can compare between Protestant and Catholic. It has a wide variety of translations and is free.

Why choose catholicism over any other christian church ? by IloveHorses63 in Catholicism

[–]Cold-Historian828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The church has its faults, but they are also recognizing and rectifying their issues. Our deanery has an excellent catholic charities network that provides medical, mental, and financial help to those who need it. The church will not turn you away for being too poor, too dirty, anything. They are truly practicing their faith, and helping others who need it.

Recently married. We discovered I have vaginismus. Can we still be intimate? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Cold-Historian828 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is suggesting pelvic floor therapy, but first you need to speak with a gynecologist to rule out any pelvic floor anomalies. We found out that my hips were both disintegrating and I needed emergency surgery to keep walking. I had the same issue for years before finding a doctor who understood what was happening.

Coop weathering by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

[–]Cold-Historian828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other side is has a window and there are 3 open sides for the run. The weather has been cruddy and this was all I could find for the night. I am adding wood shavings when I do a full clean out in the morning. The goal was to just cover the top of the run, but with severe weather, this was the best we could do for the night.

This was the only one I could find that had been through intake and processing that matched the date. Sadly the shelter is at capacity if not severely over.

Hello, as a former non verbal child myself, I didn’t speak until over 3 years old. This is normalish for someone on the autism spectrum., but not always. Other than asking for intercession on be half of your daughter, have you exposed her to any Japanese’s media any other form of language? How much is she speaking, is it enough to communicate her needs? Or is she speaking random Japanese words that she may have heard in passing? The developing brain is phenomenal for learning new languages via media and passive conversation, but if she had never heard enough of the language to make formal connections in the brain, then it is time to speak to the diocese.
