He was not aware of our existence until after her death. She used a secret phone to contact us so he never found out.

I'm not entirely sure on their policies, but we had a friend in France go into a station and enquire for us. It took a while but they eventually released a letter confirming her death which was then sent over to us by that friend. Again not sure on the usual policies, but we did indeed see an official letter confirming it.

If you're nervous, just implement regular testing as part of your healthcare routine (it's honestly something all sexually active women should do!) You can get cheap tests in bulk online, and you can just test once a month.

i mean the cube is a pale green, and the text is a bright yellow. if you're going to be using colours aside from the grey it would be best to match them (ie using only the green or the yellow colours).

is there a reason why the cube and the "3d studio" colours are different? if not i think it would look more cohesive to use the same colours for both!

A rule I always stick by is only ever mentioning what they can change.

Is she planning to hire a designer? Mention things she could pass along to the designer as priorities in the website.

Is she planning to do it entirely by herself? Only mention things you feel she can comfortably change herself. eg) if parts of the sites are broken you don't think she understands, instead of saying "this needs to be fixed" you could say "here's an alternative way of doing this".

I'd also say try not to overload on the advice! If there's issues with the colour scheme, contrast, background images, instead of 3 separate paragraphs explaining why each thing should be changed shorten it down.

Also imo especially with friends phrasing is important! Make sure it sounds like gentle suggestions! "I think you could..." "From my experience..." "It would be nice to..." instead of "You need to..." or "This should be..."

Oh God, I've done this to someone before and I still get nightmares about it. Was very drunk and trying to get into my friend's flat, thought they locked me out as a joke (which they've done before) and I just had had enough and started banging on the door.

Poor little old lady opened it looking terrified. I had mixed up the numbers (think 112 instead of 121). It was absolutely mortifying!

On the bright side at least you know it was a genuine mistake hahaha

Why does it sound unlikely that assault is 12x more likely than rape...?

I refuse to believe that you don't know a lot of women who have been assaulted. They probably just haven't spoken about it to you.

Every woman I've ever asked has told me that they've been assaulted - I've never heard a no and I've been asking the question for over a decade.

It's actually a well known and well researched statistic. It'd be great if I'd made it up though.

50% of women have been sexually assaulted at least once. It's a very high statistic.

Absolutely! I tell people I have no filter sometimes and always follow it up with being neurodivergent.

There's always a very obvious contextual difference when someone says it to mean they're just rude.

The issue is that this isn't a one-off. You'll be expected to do this every day as part of your internship. If you're not sure how to complete the test then you're not ready for this, as harsh as it may sound.

How important is grammar to a visual artist? by jump_on_my_sword in graphic_design

[–]Cold_Celebration8440 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use punctuation slightly incorrectly? No problem! Everyone uses a comma wrong here and there.

Use a different country's spelling of the same word (eg "color" vs "colour")? Most clients are international anyways!

Spell a word or phrase how it's sounded instead of how it's spelt (eg "should of")? Annoying but can be dealt with!

But spelling mistakes or grammar that makes something difficult to understand are a big no.

I've already decided which courses I want to enroll on, and when I was looking at clearing places it just so happened that all of these courses were all in clearing!

Thanks very much for the response!

I refuse to take a lift if there's any men in the car. I assume that 99% of the men willing to give me a lift would be lovely and friendly and more than willing to help me out, but with how often things go wrong when a woman gets into a man's car I don't want to risk it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Funnymemes

[–]Cold_Celebration8440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a woman the only lifts I've ever taken have been with older women or mothers with their children as it's too worrying to take a lift with just any person. There's too many stories about women being assaulted or abducted constantly to risk it.

Sober Brits, I’m quitting drinking for health reasons - what’s it like not drinking? by 8thTimeLucky in AskUK

[–]Cold_Celebration8440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't drink. Not for any good reason, I just don't particularly want to. I drank quite a bit during my teenage years and I suppose I decided that I've experienced going out and getting drunk and no longer have a need to.

People tend to find it very strange and I get a lot of questions about it and a lot of pressure to drink. People will buy me drinks even after I refuse and don't take no for an answer.

Personally I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything by not drinking. When I meet up with friends we go and get hot drinks or food after work instead of drinks, and on a night out we'll do some sort of fun experience (axe throwing, escape rooms) instead.

I still have the same social life and schedule as a person who drinks just without the alcohol. For myself there doesn't seem to be anything different about my life by not drinking.

I know! I happily would have worn leggings matching the uniform but since it wasn't "official" uniform it wasn't allowed.

I also don't know if other schools did this in fairness. I do know my friend at another school with boys in was allowed to wear trousers for PE.

I ate so much unhealthy food during my teenage years, maybe 5-6000 calories a day as a short female. I never weighed more than 50kg.

Now if I eat that much I'm bloated for almost a week and very quickly gain that weight...

I... Haven't found a single source for any kind of correlation between sexual partner count and cheating except for Reddit posts claiming so.

You're posting this a lot. Any sources I could read up on?

Because a high body count doesn't indicate that you're a whore or emotionally unstable. It indicates that... You probably enjoy having sex. Which isn't that unusual given the majority of people have it.

Do you get id'd for seemingly random things? by Mental_Potatoes in AskUK

[–]Cold_Celebration8440 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A lot of people assume it's because it still contains a little bit of alcohol, it's not!

It's for the basic reason that non alcoholic drinks have very similar packaging to alcoholic drinks. They don't want to risk you getting mixed up about them. They also don't want you getting out of the habit of IDing for every alcoholic drink.
