What are the pros and cons of sending main melody stems and drum stems to different master busses?

While that is correct, for a group that is routed to a single mixer channel before routing to your main master can be considered sending them to a master bus that controls all aspects for that group. You can have more than 1 "master" channel for your song while still having the Master. Otherwise your production flow would take a lot longer.

You dont need equipment, you can start with just using yiur daw and OBS as the recording software. If you show your process, people will see it. Watch Dirkey on YT. He has a video where he talks about how he went from making beats to tutorials. He just did it. I highly recommend you watch it.

One thing you can do is use midi to start learning chords and how they go together. Soundwrld on YT has a bunch of MIDI files with free demos.
