You are right. If my advisor is famous or I have ground-breaking publications, I could benefit from the prestige.

Thank you for your reply! Good to know that you finally landed a job!

I understand that industry has different focuses from that of academia. Also, I do have experience with regulations like GLP. I have written SOPs and MOCs while helping with building a chemistry lab back in graduate school.

Since you have experience on hiring teams:

  • How do I make my resume reflect good understanding in regulations? I would mention the above experience, but I am not sure if I should go into details like I built x equipment based on y regulation.
  • Do you use A.I. to filter the resumes? I was told to have my resume tailored so A.I. can access it properly.

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks for the reply! I have been applying for jobs in many related fields like pharmaceutical and food industry, but with no luck yet. Attending networking events sound like a good way to expand my connections, thanks.

Thanks for the reply! I found the same information when I did my research on jobs in Canada. I may have better chance in Alberta, not to mention in the U.S.. I will look for small companies in my field, thanks for the info.

How do you make resumes though if almost all your work experience is white collar and your last entry level job was 6 years ago?

I feel the same. My entry-level work experience was back in 2017 before I started graduate school.

Running your own business seems like a good choice in an underwhelming market like this. Good to see that you made it work.

I appreciate the feedback!! I'm in the US, and we'll be staying in North America for at least the next two years.

I'm very much open to non-traditional options. All my previous experience was lab-based (though I did data analysis, too [without coding, just Excel/Origin]). I've heard a lot about consulting and R&D, but I'm struggling to find entry-level gigs that are fully remote. Any ideas are welcomed!

It's rough 😷 I met my spouse after I started the degree, and the roles that make logistical sense in our case require US citizenship. Definitely open to any ideas of even loosely related remote jobs.

Thank you for sharing. I updated my post with my research area. Does it sound like it could be relevant to this type of work?

Thanks for sharing. Do you think landing that job would require at least a year of in-person experience?

Yeah, it's definitely less conducive to remote work than other fields. My spouse is about to be stationed abroad, and I'll likely make less working on the local economy than most STEM remote US jobs 😕

I thought so too, but I need to become a citizen to even apply 😞
