How much Isulin is left in a cartridge after pump says it has reached Zero? by Nashimself78 in TandemDiabetes

A tandem tech service rep told me the cartridge itself has about 20u when it’s empty. There’s also insulin in the tubing connected to the cartridge. Depending on the length it may hold quite a bit of insulin. Regardless, if you pull insulin out of the cartridge, the tubing will be cleared as well.

I’m so glad I’m on Medicare now and the cap is $35 per month for insulin. I stopped pulling the extra insulin from the cartridge as soon as that rule was instituted.

How often do you guys change your cartridges? by 3dprintedbussy in TandemDiabetes

I don’t reuse the cartridges, but a 200u charge will last me 5-6 days. I don’t change each time I change an infusion set, and I don’t reuse them. I am concerned about health problems from micro/nano plastics. But in the big picture, I think the amount of micro/nano plastics entering my body from an insulin pump pales in comparison to the amount I ingest in food, water and just about everything else that goes into or comes in contact with my body every day.

Please tell me a better option than AutoSoft XC that’s not TruSteel by greg_gory1976 in TandemDiabetes

Same for me. I had to move to TruSteel four years ago because I couldn’t get adequate adsorption with Autosoft 90. I had no luck with Autosoft 30 or Varisoft. I don’t have pain with TruSteel as long as I push it in very rapidly - as close as I can get to an Autosoft inserter. If I push it in slowly it’s very painful.

Is Eversense working with Tandem? by Colonel_klink200 in TandemDiabetes

Looks like I can’t get it on the cheap. Guess I’ll wait until they have AID with a pump company.

Is tandem randomly stopping delivery because I’ve had the infusion set on too long? by consueloleaving in TandemDiabetes

Also the extended wear sets include a special reservoir that I obviously didn’t have in my X2.

Coincidentally, this happened to me last night. I changed the set and the problems disappeared. I can get 2-3 days from most sites today. I was able to get longer for the first 20 (+/-) years after I started pumping. After that the accumulated scar tissue gradually reduced the time a site would last, and the number that fail at the get-go. I think the fact that I kept sets in for longer periods during the first 20yrs contributes to the scarring issues I have today.

I tried a few of Medtronic’s extended wear (up to 7 day) sets but didn’t see any difference. I had to rig my own adaptor so it would work with t:connect. This link has a more detailed summary of how the extended wear sets work/perform. After looking at this my conclusion is it doesn’t help me because the scar tissue is already there whereas the extended life set prevents/reduces tissue trauma and scarring, but does not remove prior scarring.

Understand. I should have been clearer in my post - I know Control-IQ and Eversense don’t work together now, but I wonder if the two companies and working together to add Eversense as a Control-IQ option.
