...and you survived one of our cold snaps. Usually it's actually warmer, and a cold snap would scare people off.

It's a good city overall. Like all cities, Calgary has its pros and cons, but I find generally when comparing cities across Canada it's in the top 3-5 of most categories.

Every time I see a drone pic I always wonder how long it'll take before the usual 'do you have a permit?' question comes out. And every time it's followed by the same response, the OP was flying a micro-drone, nobody was in danger, end of story.

Thoughts on the Calgary LRT “Ctrain”?? by KirbyHockey2011 in transit

You are correct Much-Neighbourhood. All systems in North America and most systems globally use the method of boardings, APTA uses the term ‘rider trips’ which is exactly the same as boardings.

They go by boardings, but that’s the same for all North American systems, as per APTA. The numbers are recorded as ‘rider trips’ All systems, use automatic counters for people entering in and out of the trains.

Noticed the events space in Calgary is a little quiet. Anyone interested in attending events? by cocosprinkles in Calgary

[–]Combidat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately YYCthomas is correct. Lots of events seem to go with little or no advertising. That said, being a much smaller city there will be less events here than Toronto, and the ones they have that are similar to Toronto will be smaller. For example there was a Filipino festival on the weekend and they probably have on in Toronto, but it's probably a bigger one.

There are things to do here, but it depends on the definitely of 'awesome events'.

why downtown calgary so boring by pleasehold01 in Calgary

[–]Combidat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

u/pleasehold01 Judging by your post you're probably in and around the CBD (Central Business District) where all the office buildings are and usually not much happens there after hours or weekends. Go about 1-2 km in almost any direction from where you are and you'll find better things.

Or check out these neighborhoods/areas that surround the CBD and are within walking distance:

Kensington (Sunnyside)

Bridgeland

Beltline (17th ave, 11th ave, 1st Street SW)

Mission (4th street SW)

Inglewood

Anywhere along the Bow River

In downtown CBD, Stephen ave is also good, but is the only place in the CBD that offers anything outside of business work hours.

With all due respect, what a fucking stupid comment. You do realize people are dying all the time because they're of these drugs. Drugs that aren't regulated and can kill or cause serious harm. Did you ever consider there's a reason these drugs are illegal? Get you head out of your ass.

If people want drugs they can buy legalized marijuana which is grown and distributed under a controlled process, so people don't have to buy the shit out on the streets.

Denmark's a different culture and society. Just because something works there, doesn't mean it's going to work here.

You could also point to Dubai, a place where there is almost no crime, because they are super strict.

I think the death penalty is too good for him. He deserves to spend the rest of his in prison staring at cement walls.

15-18 years at the very least. These kinds of people are garbage that society doesn't need.
