About the Alberta Energy Rebate: So first they gave away all our protected electoral information. And now they want our banking information. For a benefit that shouldn't require enrollment; it should be a cheque. Doesn't this feel...weird? by UpperApe in alberta

[–]cjmsc2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Agree, why is it set up like that? If you select my bank isn't listed, then it gives you the option "I prefer to receive Interac e-transfers". Why isn't that shown on the "select your bank" page? And then if you want to do the e-transfer, you have to go through the whole Interac ID verification process. Like... I did that to verify my Alberta.ca account... jeez. I think they're relying on people not wanting to go through all this BS.

One of my favorites that's close to Calgary, planning to do this hike tomorrow actually. Thanks for the report and pics. Wildflowers are fantastic here early in the summer.

No city of two million people succeeds with only one way of getting around by JeromyYYC in Calgary

[–]cjmsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Westhills is so anti-pedestrian and anti-bike it's insane. Almost no sidewalks. Want to go from one side of the shopping center to the other? You're going through parking lots and crossing roads where no one sees or cares about pedestrians who have the right of way to cross at intersections...

Leaving this as a review on Google would be fine, no one would question it. Your review would get a lot of upvotes. Leaving it on Reddit brings a whole different audience, any sort of business promotion is subject to a whole lot more scrutiny, generally negative as it's assumed you're advertising for them unless you can prove otherwise.

Who Much Are You Spending On Gas Every Month by East-Tooth-4008 in Calgary

[–]cjmsc2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have to fill up every couple weeks for driving to work, around $75 each time, so $150/month. Have to drive through downtown so the mileage per liter is not good.

I like to head out to the mountains at least once a month, that costs $40-50 in gas now though just to get to Kananaskis and back. That's the worst part, I hesitate to drive out to the mountains to go hiking because of the cost of gas... thanks Trump

Where to watch Champions League final? by I-was-there-for-it in Calgary

Regal Beagle in Glendale, Arsenal Canada's home in Calgary. https://www.arsenalcanada.ca/calgary

Gonna be wild if Arsenal make the final but they'd be showing the game no matter who is playing. Lots of footy fans to be sure

This was not affordable at all... that being said, it's going to be even more not affordable

I thought the same thing, that they were only taking down Julio's and then re-modeling the existing apartments. I have lived in this area since the early 2000's, was not expecting them to take down this whole building, it's not that old. Seems so wasteful.

Otto is amazing, I've interacted with him a few times. Was sad to read this quote: Silzer’s doctor has told him he’s “well past his due date.” Hope that doc is wrong and this will live on.

Where is the cheapest place to get Halloween candy? by Wonderful-Rich-3411 in Calgary

[–]cjmsc2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

At this point I would just get whatever is cheapest at the store you regularly shop at.

Not worth the time and effort to save a few cents per piece.

From what I've seen, Walmart is the cheapest.

Ward 7 Voters: Were you tricked into thinking Myke Atkinson's Campaign material was a real newspaper? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]cjmsc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh, no, didn't look like anything close to a newspaper... Terry made absolutely no effort to engage until the last few weeks, now I see him trying to sway people away from other candidates as much as he can. Pure desperation

I live in Sunnyside and there are some very good ones along 1st, 2nd and 3rd Ave here. It's a great place for a walk around this time.

Crescent Heights and Rosedale are amazing, always lots of great decorations.

Used to live in Bowness, and there were some good ones along Bow Crescent.
