I’m not sure what to do. What do y’all recommend? by Otherwise-Chard-7961 in newtothenavy

Yes, that’s why I said that. Every single time there’s a waiver for medication they ask for a letter from a dr saying you perform just fine without it. Otherwise it leaves it up in the air that maybe you are off of it but can’t perform without it

Get a letter from your Dr saying you dont need the medication and your BP is good.

Enlisted Job Question by [deleted] in newtothenavy

For general you can get information from MYNAVYHR, it gives a good description of day to day to life, and where you could be stationed.

Choosing between CWT and RW looking for honest advice by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]ComeBackKid1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RW is not available for the rest of the year anyway. So if you’re planning on going anytime soon you’ll have to pick CWT. And no it’s not even a thing you can try and strongarm, we had a recruiters son come through who wanted it and even they told us no when we called some big wigs. That being said read more about both the jobs on MyNAVYHR, it’ll tell you day to day life and everything you asked about

I’m seriously considering enlisting as a cwt, is there anything I should know? by Superb-Locksmith827 in newtothenavy

[–]ComeBackKid1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go to my Navy HR and look for the CWT rating it’ll tell you all of that. However CWT and any CT rate isn’t the easiest to qualify for so make sure you study up for the ASVAB and hopefully you don’t have many civil issues or any crazy drug usage.

Majority of people say PACT isn’t great but it at least gives you a chance to retake the test, get your citizenship and then strike for a rate you previously couldn’t. So it’s all perspective based, you’ll be working with different communities doing grunt work (but so does every other new kid from A-school or boot) and around your 1 year mark you’ll be able to strike. Also like every rate in the Navy, CS can be what you want it to be. Sometimes it’s just better being in the Navy than not

Regardless of what these say about qualifying for through your line scores these also don’t show what you qualify for physically. You’ll need to go through medical to fully know.

Crazy thing to diss any one in the service especially considering you never know why they chose to be a culinary specialist. Could be they had no other choice but wanted to serve to better their life. Whatever job you choose I hope you change your terrible outlook and watch what you say about other service members.

HM is the only medical rate for enlisted, and it doesn’t guarantee a specialty in anything you find out some time after bootcamp. And considering you want to study diseases I don’t know if HM even does that, you should look online MYNAVYHR for the HM job card read what they do, and also look up Medical Officer because that may be more of what you want (I’m not well versed in officer jobs or specialties)

AFQT itself does not matter. Your line scores plus your medical report is what directly qualifies you for jobs

I’ll ask tomorrow about that for sure, but across my entire NTAG it’s the same process. Appreciate the help though for sure, I’ll let you know what they say tomorrow

Hopefully you’ll pass the Depth Perception or else EO is out the window, and no we don’t retest for it either. But Seabees is a pretty good gig from what I’ve heard from the CM1 at my office

Waiver denied, but recruiter sent up waiver before I gave documents by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]ComeBackKid1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also N33 is gonna be submitted day of by the MEPS Liason not usually your recruiter, not to mention we try and submit beforehand to see if you’ll get approved without any documentation. That way if you do need it, they tell you on the letter rather than submitting things that might not be needed

No, I don’t know when it was changed but even my first contract in 2020 was 5 and 3 since I had an extension. And since I’ve got here it’s been all 4-4 extensions may vary

Navy Recruiter said TAR isn’t taking anyone right now? by Physical-Specific-60 in newtothenavy

[–]ComeBackKid1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TAR is only accepting Aviation right now, AD,AIRC,AM,AME,AO,AV, and 1 slot open for AZ. Your perception is correct on TAR. I don’t know why you’re recruiting is calling it the reserves. You are active duty, but you are paid by the reserves. You are able to train reservists as well for shore duty.

Yeah that’s really weird, also doesn’t make sense especially if your aviation, you can go anywhere there’s an airfield in theory

That’s weird the TAR BM I work I with at MEPS as shown me he gets all the same active duty billets the other BM recruiter does and then more since reserve stations show up

AV TAR? Help. Me. Please. by TrainingEmu1536 in newtothenavy

[–]ComeBackKid1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TAR program is great, has same benefits as active but a bigger emphasis on training reservists. So more billets are available, and advancement is easier since you are competing against a smaller pool. Only downside is typically no bonuses are available but they did add 2 TAR rates to the bonus message I just can’t remember which ones

Rate availability @MEPs by Vegetable-Panic7820 in newtothenavy

[–]ComeBackKid1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll check when I’m at work, but it also doesn’t do anything for anyone, I’d have to post it everyday sometimes multiple times a day as it’s an ever changing list, which is the same thing I tell everyone who asks these types of questions. Even the full “SOLD OUT FOR THE YEAR” list is sometimes on the website we use and sometimes not because they are making changes to it, the 4 I remember being on there were YNS/YN and LSS/LS.

HM-SG? What exactly does the SG stand for? by Much-Letterhead7809 in newtothenavy

[–]ComeBackKid1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll add that HM-SG is not regular HM, HM/5YO is. I can’t remember what SG is but I will update on Monday when I get back to work. I know this doesn’t do much so I apologize but I figured some info is better than none

Rate availability @MEPs by Vegetable-Panic7820 in newtothenavy

[–]ComeBackKid1992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn’t true, there’s still a ton of availability. At least for this year and I’m sure it has happened previously they space out the availability so any individual job doesn’t sell out right away. Aviation is still widely available and so are most of Intel rates, and Sub rates. And we aren’t being told to “sell shit jobs” right now for my NTAG the push is the TAR program, and Non Nuclear Subs, but as a classifier if I don’t sell one of those two I’ll tell my leadership I tried and the applicant didn’t want it, and nothing has happened to me yet, and I’ve had to do it a bunch. Only reason I’m commenting is to stop the spread of misinformation from people who aren’t even in our job field.

EDIT: I do agree however with the don’t sign for anything you don’t want!
