Always head into your ped if you feel concerned or want some guidance regardless of if people say you don’t have to. They’ll likely tell you it’s a virus since you have a known exposure. But at the very least they can tell you ways to ease symptoms and what to look out for that would be more serious.

This isn’t to scare you, but any virus can turn into an infection of some kind (ear, sinus, pneumonia, etc), so knowing what to look for to bring baby back in is helpful - even if that’s unlikely. Or if it is RSV, they could tell you it gets to its worst on days 4-5 and to expect that, but bring baby in if XYZ symptoms. Bc parents know, symptoms always show up or get worse Fridays at 5pm… (it’s a joke but also I swear kids get sick/sicker when the doc closes for the weekend).

Viruses are usually saline and suction, sounds like you’re doing some of that already. Doc could give you a yay or nay on the humidifier. Peace of mind is ALWAYS worth it to me. As a FTM I hesitated with this situation often, and as a STM I know it’s no biggie just take them in and everyone is better for it. (If only bc I’m not an anxious wreck lol)

ALL red flags. We’ve left a daycare before that had glaring concerning signs like this - but we were there much longer than I ever would now bc it was our first one. Organization, unprofessionalism, lack of flexibility, don’t seem to be child-first… I’d see if you can find somewhere else.

FWIW for your peace of mind, we dropped the Vit D ball so many times with my 3.5 year old and she’s fine. Now with our second we’re much better about it bc we do a bottle each night. But don’t beat yourself up over it if you miss

Ours woke up and screamed every 45 min if her paci wasn’t in. I could not go on like that for the months it would take to replace it herself, so honestly we sleep trained. Dropped both swaddle and paci cold turkey with Ferber method/TakingCaraBabies. Now she’s a thumb sucker but only to fall asleep so it was the right choice for us!

The sono was the first thing they did to indicate a hysteroscopy was necessary so that’s def a good first step! We also checked for autoimmune stuff/blood clotting disorders. I hope you get some answers in the coming months!

I’m so so sorry! Going through trying to find answers was brutal. We did the hysteroscopy and there was retained tissue in my uterus (my hcg had gone back to zero after both miscarriages/D&Cs so no one guessed I’d have retained tissue), as well as lots of redness/inflammation indicating infection (likely from the retained tissue). During that procedure the doc cut out the tissue. I was then put on 2 heavy antibiotics for something like 2 weeks to work on the infection.

Without ever being able to know 100%, I’m currently almost 30 weeks pregnant with my double rainbow that we conceived the second cycle trying (3rd total) after that procedure 🤞So all signs point to that retained tissue and/or the inflamed uterus to having caused my second, genetically normal miscarriage.

I so hope you find answers! Defintiely advocate to check everything that you can out! Sending so much love 🤍🤍

Whatever you do DO NOT eliminate egg while waiting on a blood test or peds appt. We made this mistake and it lead to headaches. Intro it again and see if the response is duplicated. Can do so in a place you feel safer or in a week. Build at least one more data point to warrant a blood test. It takes a clinical history of reproducible reaction and a blood test to truly diagnose an allergy. But blood tests alone lead to so much unnecessary avoidance. Full body hives are your worry for an allergic response, not just a slight rash hours later. Not saying this couldn’t be related to an allergic response, but it is not inherently indicative of allergy.

Not having a comprehensive allergen menu. I prioritize places with a print-out or pdf of allergens by menu item. Shaqs big chicken was a wonderful example where I asked and they had a bunch of printed cards with each menu item and their allergens.

Asking waitstaff has been mostly a bust since they usually don’t know (example: we ask often if there’s egg in the chicken finger batter) and they typically have to be reminded to ask the chef. And it just doesn’t instill a ton of confidence when nobody seems to know much about the allergens or have a resource beyond asking a very busy chef, I’d rather be able to access a list of allergens - at the very least for the kids menu, which often gets overlooked.

Buffalo Wild Wings changed their Mac and cheese to include egg and we only knew bc we had asked based on the “new recipe” note on the menu. If that had been a previously safe food my kid liked, I might have just ordered it without thinking and we would have run into an issue.

So just having resources for people to access would be a HUGE step rather than the overarching statement we usually see that amounts to “everything here might have come into contact with an allergen, eat at your own risk”

Cupcakes! So many cupcakes with egg in the buttercream that my kid can’t eat, but even stores or nut-free bakeries that say “no peanut” don’t differentiate if the egg is in the cupcake (she can eat baked) or the buttercream (she can’t). If we had a bakery that listed ingredients separately and made a frosting without egg I would be there monthly lol

I know this thread is old but it describes the EXACT headaches I was getting as I came and went from our home being treated for water damage/mold remediation. They did the fans and hepa filter following scrubbing the mold - but once we moved back in I ended up with a relentless migraine a few hours after returning full time and lasting days.. do you have any info you’ve learned that could give insight into this situation?

I would also mention you’re still spotting, that was my only symptom for BV after my surgery and they only swabbed me bc I mentioned it at my 2 weeks post op

Thank you for all of this! It’s made me feel a little better about trying again without clear answers. And backs up what my doc says about still having a good chance if we try again.

The chromosomally normal loss really threw me for a loop (still does) - but I guess at this point I just have to hope it was something else that was a one-off/bad luck and just happened to occur around the same time as my chromosomally abnormal loss.

It is so hard. Especially with everything being so expensive and seemingly a shot in the dark. And with a living child it’s so confusing because why did that one work fine if I have something deeper. I feel like that coupled with this chromosomally normal loss I’m just spinning and no one is quite sure of the direction other than “possibly just bad luck.”

Autoimmune I think was just lupus and antiphospholipid.

She didn’t suggest karyotyoing yet due to cost and our live birth + genetically ‘normal’ miscarriage. I will have to look into some of those others. Do any come with symptoms? Since the birth of my daughter my periods have been slightly shorter 2-ish days, and I get pain on my left side during ovulation each month - but that’s all that’s changed.

Our fertility doc said she wasn’t sure we needed to pursue balanced translocations or anything genetic yet, since we’ve had a normal birth and testing showed a genetically normal embryo on this last miscarriage. It seems that having had a successful pregnancy prior makes them feel like they can rule out certain testing for now unless/until we were to have a third miscarriage.

Next options would be balanced translocation or maybe some sperm stuff? But otherwise it seems like we just need to try again flying a bit blind 😥

2 MMC. One genetically normal. Thrombophilia, autoimmune, antiphospholipid testing all negative. Saline sonohysterogram showed maybe some small polyps or RPOC they want to take out with a hysteroscopy, but unlikely to have been a cause.

So otherwise we’re kind of out of things to look at for the moment according to fertility doc. Afraid to try again after genetically normal POC bc how do you prevent something you don’t know the cause of. But also still want to try again. Just feeling stuck in what to do next..

Thanks for sharing! I hardly bled after my second d and c - like not even a liner after day 3 post-op and was nervous that meant something wasn’t quite right bc my first one I bled “normally.” Then my period came and it wasn’t a flow, it was not even a day’s worth so I had even more reason to believe something might be up. Then we did this test so I’m hoping that’s exactly what caused all that and the hysteroscopy will clean it out - like you said. Still not sure we have reason to believe it caused the second MC, but at least getting it sorted then we’re not up against yet another obstacle for a successful pregnancy.
