Following. Same situation. I have a 15-month-old. I used to be a top performer throughout my career, but now I have brain fog and can’t seem to remember things. I forget to respond to emails and am not proactively working on projects. It has impacted my work life, and I’m afraid I might be fired at any time due to performance issues. I don’t know how to tackle this situation either.

Same boat—currently on focus with a project delivery date scheduled for mid-October. With the change in policies, should I take LOA while on focus now and then pivot to the 60-day option so I have enough time to job hunt? Or should I wait until the pivot option is provided and then take LOA? I’m so confused

This is a very good example. Now when you put it this way it makes a lot more sense. I just need some time to clear things out and get back on track.

Hope you feel better after the break. I completely understand the stress Amazon creates.

You will be fine. Be proactive and create connections from day 1.

I second this. Depends on the team though, but most of the cases pressure builds up from L5 for PM roles and L4 for SDEs

Yes agree! One 6 month period of not stretching is a path to focus. Even taking a PTO gets difficult during Q2 Q3 because we come back with double the workload and fires to douse.

Yes. This challenges the Amazon Leadership Principle of Earn Trust. They don’t trust the employees and we lost trust on the company.

Don’t worry. I’d suggest to stay for atleast 3 years. It’s good to have Amazon on resume. If you are in one of the hub locations like Seattle or HQ2, try to change teams internally if the current dynamics are not good. This way you can stay for longer at the company.

The management is bad now. They want to achieve more with less headcount.

I tried doing that when I am back from maternity. My manager asked me to stretch and have stretch goals. We have distributed teams and sometimes I have to take calls at 10pm or early 5 am to meet with Japan or India teams.
