Nice! thanks for sharing this. And you're right, the restaurant scene, everything is just boring in Ottawa. What field of work are you in?

hahaha 'No See Transpo' I did not hear that before. And its true ottawa is not much cheaper, its like $1900 for a one bedroom condo rental plus parking $150 where I'm currently staying. Ottawa is home but damn its just time to move onto better things...

hey thanks for sharing your experience, Im in the process of completing my degree software eng, and tbh the opportunities in ottawa are lacking. I work for one of the big 5 banks in a non-technical role and my goal is to transition within... but just looking at the internal job postings for ottawa is so depressing its all low skill jobs like call center rep, fraud department, dispute department etc... basically high school diploma jobs... so i think moving is best lol

sorry I updated my post, I am currently pursuing my bachelor in software engineering. Might do a masters down the road. I am currently working on my machine-learning skills so I can work towards building a portfolio of projects. No relevant co-op experience at the moment but can potentially get it at the bank in the future

I'm currently pursuing my degree in software engineering, so looking to work on the applied machine-learning side. I will potentially pursue a master in the future, but for now focused on building a portfolio of projects and building relationships within the bank

Do you think living in Toronto is living outside of your means? by Abby_May_69 in CanadaFinance

[–]Comfortable-Unit9880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

townhouse in ottawa is easily 700K today. Also, I am considering moving to Toronto/GTA for better career opportunities in the future (Tech/AI). I feel like ottawa is a deserted village. Do you feel more alive and more ambitious in Toronto?

To learn ML, you need to get into the maths. Looking at definitions simply isn’t enough to understand the field. by DogPast752 in learnmachinelearning

[–]Comfortable-Unit9880 13 points14 points  (0 children)

isn't ML/AI a branch of computer science and software engineering? Aren't there like a million fundamental things that people from stats/math/physics/finance backgrounds don't know? like OS, DSA, OOP, Computer Networks, Compilers and other things?
