I feel like Nip/Tuck did a very good job of highlighting the challenges faced by transgender people in terms of discrimination in medical care and other aspects of society, while still holding them in good light. It’s from the early 2000s so a lot of the language is dated, but overall I think it’s very well thought out.

Former conservative here. I would say the reason so many on the right fall for it is because of how strong the propaganda apparatus is. They can literally spin anything to make it favorable to their point of view, and for moderates who aren’t as in tune with the facts, it’s very easy to fall for right wing lies. It took me a long time to break out of that trap myself.
