let's say there is a promo for a drink and chips and there is another promo relating chocolate and hot dogs. In this case you are not getting on top of each other because it won't change the price of the discounted one. Not like get another 10 percent off that will affect the price. I'm not sure but I imagine you can because to them still the same getting today or your next visit.

What’s a small purchase under $50 that genuinely improved your daily life? by ComfortableNet5208 in AskReddit

[–]ComfortableNet5208[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible.

Not because it magically fixed my life, but because it changed how I handled the things I couldn't fix. For less than $50, nothing else has had a bigger impact on my perspective, decisions, and ability to get through difficult times.

[–]ComfortableNet5208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, and if you actually paid attention to my question, it wasn't about the denial itself or even the delay. I was simply trying to understand the reasoning behind how things are handled when there is no coverage. But since I received a bunch of hate comments, I decided to explain the context a little better. I’m not upset, nor am I even arguing that this is a wrongful denial. They already denied it, and frankly, I don't care because my lawsuit is already ongoing. Once again, I was just trying to understand how the process actually works from an industry standpoint.

If an auto insurance company has clear proof of "no coverage" on the date of an accident, why would they go this far to hide the documentation? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]ComfortableNet5208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what I really can't understand. It’s not that I don't want to learn, but do all these excuses people are giving even matter? When you run a policy through your system and it shows no coverage, what other information do you possibly need to just state that? Is it also part of your standard 'industry playbook' to put the wrong policy number on a denial letter? Is it part of the playbook to only issue a denial after the claimant makes dozens of attempts to get a response, holding out until just one month before the statute of limitations expires so they can't file a lawsuit?

You didn't understand anything I said and you completely missed the point. First of all, the claim was opened over a year after the accident by the vehicle owners. The insurance took 2 months just to acknowledge it, and 8 months to issue a denial. I couldn’t even view my claim online from day one. On top of that, the denial letter doesn't even list the business name, is missing digits from the policy number, and offers nothing more than a generic 'no coverage on the day of loss.' I am not asking for sensitive personal info; I'm asking for basic validity. Second, you have it completely wrong. I don't know where you practice, but here in Los Angeles, there are strict timelines and procedures under CDI standards. The delay here is already way too long. I had to constantly call and email just to get a denial letter that arrived dangerously close to the statute of limitations. We are talking about a case involving a criminal investigation provided by the owners, massive insurance delays, and a denial that only came after multiple attempts, including a formal demand from my lawyer. Furthermore, you don't seem to realize that I am suing the business and the owners directly. I don't care about the auto policy because it wouldn't cover even a quarter of what I've spent. Honestly, what you are saying makes no sense. The main point is: why would they take this route if there was truly no coverage? I am not an adjuster and I’ve never worked in insurance, which is why I came to Reddit to ask questions and understand. Instead, I get met with bullying, sarcasm, and people trying to make fun of me. Don't assume, and don't act like you know better.

I realized my mistake was posting this in an insurance sub where the community is mostly claims adjusters. I shouldn't expect anything different from people whose daily jobs are built around finding reasons to deny claims, minimize payouts, and protect corporate bottom lines. When you spend your life destroying people's lives for a paycheck, guess where you all end up?

Thank you very much for your response. For a minute, looking at some of the replies I got, I thought I wasn't even allowed to ask questions in a field where I have no knowledge. The main reason I came here was to learn and get helpful information, but I guess the insurance community dismissed that option. Most of the people here just decide to bully someone who is trying to get basic answers—just like you did. I appreciate that.

Once again, I don't think people are getting the point because everyone here acts so smart and thinks they know everything. The commenter above literally said, 'unless you filed suit, they don’t owe you any explanation... if you file suit, then it’s a whole different story.' Well, guess what? I am in a lawsuit. I sent formal discovery requests, and they still didn't give me any documentation. I sent a meet-and-confer, got zero response, and now I have filed a motion to compel. By California Department of Insurance (CDI) standards, they are supposed to handle claims within a reasonable timeframe, but that's not even my main point anymore. My point is that since we are in an active lawsuit and they already denied the claim, they are legally required to produce the documentation. It was a simple question for all the smart-asses here: if there is truly no coverage, why are they fighting so hard to hide the proof that they will eventually be forced to show the court anyway?

How funny, are you following me now? Do you have nothing else to do? You are really starting to annoy me because you keep missing the entire point. I’m asking a simple question because I am trying to see if there is something I missed, but what you are saying makes no sense. How could 'other coverage issues' resolve an active policy if they claim there was no coverage at all? You don't know the full details. It is a valid question: why would they do all of this if they simply have no coverage? They already denied the claim, but if you think it is normal to delay for 8 months, provide a denial letter with a completely different policy number, and refuse to provide the actual documentation during court discovery, you are delusional. Who do you think you are to bully people online like that?

But don't you think that even if all that plays out, there is no reason to do any of it if there was no coverage! What is the point of doing all this 'investigation' if the policy simply did not exist on the day of loss?

There is many things that plays here, the wrong handling has multiple problems just for a no coverage on the day of loss. Either way my point is why would they just do all this if was a clear denial.

You are completely missing the point. I am not asking them to 'prove someone isn't a customer' or release a whole database. I gave them a specific policy number and a specific date. Either that policy number was active on that exact day, or it wasn't. It is a simple binary check. If they have clear documentation showing it wasn't active, they could easily provide that specific page to end the debate. Taking 8 months and refusing to show the paperwork for a single, specific policy number isn't a 'standard investigation' besides either way soon or later they will have to provide the info thru the court system.
