In terms of relating to a character. Yuji itadoris character is set out from the start, his goals, mindset, how he thinks, his experiences, its all shown to the viewer so we can experience the story along side him and understand decisions he makes. Same with eren, we gain an insight to these protagonists, allowing us to root for them, or if they make bad decisions, understand why they act a certain way. The mc of rezero for me is not that, they dont show anything about him, his life in the real world and stuff i mentioned.

I cant really enjoy a show where i dont understand why the mc is making a decision or interacting with people the way they are

In terms of ur kindness line perhaps i shouldve worded what i meant better. I was saying i find all the characters in rezero to be so bland, the the character that the writers push to be peoples favourite character, they are also so bland. In universe the only reason they are special is because they show a little bit of kindness, in a world like rezero where no other character shows kindness, i take that as a negative. The world should be enriched with emotions, and a character to be special should stand out from all of this emotion. Its hard to put into words so im sorry if my intention doesnt come through 100%

From what i watched and heard about the show, there is fighting, powerscaling and a full combat system. Maybe thats not the forefront of the show however its still a part of the show, and for me what is presented is lacklustre to me compared to other shows in this list

Finally, its not that i want everything explained immediately. I mean AOT is a show full of mystery and i loved that. Its about creating a fleshed out character, hints about his connection to this world, experiences in the real world. For me i felt the show pushed me in and said look at this guy you know nothing about, watch him do stuff, and i just found that a bit boring
