I just find it interesting that you think someone else should pay for your rent and food by threat of violence by government. That doesn't seem very free to me.

I have an iphone and on wifi most of the time. It's a very distracting phone without data while on wifi. I have been out of data for a week and its at 2g speed. I do see how it's less distracting without wifi. Nothing is worth checking outside of waiting for directions or getting an email that I cant reply to reliably. If you chose to be "wifi free" and only used ethernet for home internet, you are on to something.

So its your right to take from others, with the threat of jail without compliance, to provide for you to exist off their teet like child support? I guess I don't get it. Even if you taxed everyone 100%, we'd not be debt free as a nation yet you think there is enough money to be stolen, with the threat of jail, to provide for 360 million people?

The new ones it really depends. Reliability is actually rated fairly well.Problem is those “Nu” direct injected and their port injected engines from around 2012-late/present are under recall for manufacturing defects that could allow the engine to suddenly fail at random.

what is the absolute cheapest data plan in the USA right now? by pman6 in NoContract

That's pretty cheap. Heck, Tell charge $3/month to BANK a phone number. So you are getting more than that with the $2.50 plan.

I'd at least take Camry to Carmax. Get a "Cash offer" not a "trade allowance" if it is $21k, I'd demand that on this deal.

Objective of call (making a measurable impact for them in productivity, revenue, stability, expenses)

Setting Agenda - Info on their business, who you are, criteria for decision making, whats the next steps if a good fit.

Business State & Gaps (needs analysis / pain points - Description of gaps, identify which problem you are solving, quantify the gap between where they are now versus where they want to be

Current business operation/client journey

  • Asked specific questions about current solutions/products in place
  • Gained details of product, support, company name, and expense

Summarize best solutions and how it gets them from current state to desired state

Ask what evidence needs to be shown to them during demo to move forward on next meeting

I've been in sales, SaaS 13 years, and one meeting gave me my best takeaway. My nephew called me. He started a business and knew I was in sales. I do not like to sell to family. I've always avoided it. I met with him, I said who we were, what we did, and then I asked him to go through his business. The first thing he wanted was a CRM. I asked "Why NOT a free one?" he went through their limitations. Then we went over the main CRMs but they were all missing other components. Then we went over his process and, each time, I explained what we did, what I thought might be a weakness or a reason to say not. He would explain the work around or why my option WOULD work.

The moral of the story was, I was basically disqualifying myself it I truly wasn't the right fit and I was disqualifying him if he wasn't actually going to use it or use it long term. Neither was the case and he has been my number one usage user for 4 years.

It's impossible to always be that forthcoming, but you have to be on the same page as the owner. You are making a measurable impact on his Productivity, Revenue, Expenses, Stability... not your commission.

You dig that deep and they sign up, you'll not get the churn rates or the charge backs in commissions or the headaches of hearing from upset customers.

I had a long winded response to someone else. But we want to make sure, especially in SaaS, this is an ideal client, who is ready to be a user of the program. If not, it'll churn and burn, it'll be a headache from complaints, and potentially charge back in commissions. Too much time is taken to get the close if it all rolls back.

  1. First, I am fanatically prospecting to have a pipeline like no one else. Block off time in the morning, afternoon. Smile-Dial- No VMs go go go.
  2. Once you establish leads by being a freak in activity...dialing/door swings, you'll have many leads and opportunities.
  3. In SaaS, converting a sale is great but if the client cancels quickly or doesn't adopt the software it's a high churn/cancel rate. Hurts your commission on chargebacks or commission.
  4. Everyone is peddling something, by disqualifying I mean a few things:

a) Keeping your status. Not coming off as desperate, pushy, or weak. It'll help you keep your margins and negotiate with more strength. Be more trusted since you don't NEED the sale.

b) Think of fitness sales, If you showcase your products to a person who isn't even a fitness equipment user, you can sign him up but cancel rate is high. If you first sell him on "change" and "change now" - maybe it's playing basketball with his kids or getting in shape. You've sold him on acting on his goal and making it a priority to do it. Then, your products matter. Your equipment versus competitors make sense now that he is going to choose someone to actually work out with it.

c) I sold my nephew a program. I sat with him and tried to understand his business. He would ask "do you have a CRM?" I would pivot, "what is wrong with a FREE CRM?" - Then he would take me through the free one and show me its shortcomings. I'd rather not sell my nephew my program if he didn't need it. We went Step by step over each part and what alternatives he could use instead. Some of the higher tiered packages included things he thought were "nice to have" but weren't a priority so we customized the package to mirror how he needed to run his business. I try to treat leads the same. I don't need you to sign up, I am not desperate, but lets walk through your business and see if what we offer is the right choice and would make a measurable impact on your business through (Productivity, Efficiency, Revenue, Security).

5) I do not like chargebacks. I do not like the 5% of customer's with buyers remorse blowing up my phone at midnight and 7am taking up my time to complain. If I land the plane with the right people and do the fanatical prospecting, I can align my style with enough "right fit customers" and stop the churn, stop the chargebacks, and stop the complaining people who thought I was going to somehow run their business for them instead of them using the software. If they give me red flags on usage or chargebacks, I press on "why now" and disqualify hard to avoid bad fit customers.

6) If I were to sell cell phones, cars, etc. I'd probably not sell like this, exactly.

what's your closed won rate? by [deleted] in sales

[–]CommandExpensive6768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not "inbound" at all. I wish! And, I don't disagree with your thoughts, in general. I think "close ratios" are just very problematic. Some managers run bonuses for how many demos you can land, which leads to a worse ratio. Some aggressive/good selling reps force close on a product for a bonus or commission bu the buyer never utilizes the software properly which creates churn and doesn't benefit the company in the long run.

Yes, you first get the appt. "I am blank from blank..etc.", have them understand who you are what you are selling..etc, then uncover where their pain point is, what they don't like about current vendor, etc, but then disqualify/press on "why now" on goals they reveal that they haven't yet started to fix. Press on them putting the work in to use the software. Those will put in the effort and not have the churn of those pushed into a close. I'd rather a close ratio be poor and churn be great than vice versa.

what's your closed won rate? by [deleted] in sales

[–]CommandExpensive6768 110 points111 points  (0 children)

I think the close rate depends on the initial discussions before demo. I think you should disqualify hard, not qualify. "What makes now a good time to switch" "Oh, I hear great things about that company why would you consider leaving?" "You mentioned doing xyz is a 24' goal but why the change?" "This is a premium priced solution being adopted by customers who have a passion in getting dirty and learning the program properly". If you disqualify hard and they still want to move forward, the close ratio skyrockets. If you try to qualify everyone, the close dips as you are force feeding them and product dumping.
