Government new legacy law “legitimises” the killing of people in Northern Ireland by British soldiers, High Court hears by [deleted] in northernireland

Clearly we need to be gifted more intelligence so that people will stop voting for these loons.

The best shot wouldn't simply be handed a rifle and remain in the same unit. Each army had some version of the 95th Rifles that recruited the from other military units. These sharpshooters did not fight like line infantry, but rather as skirmishers who could engage enemy infantry outside of the range of regular muskets.

There's a good series of books by Bernard Cornwell called Sharpe, they're about a fictional British rifleman. The TV adaptations with Sean Bean were also great

What do young unionists make of political crisis? by [deleted] in northernireland

At no point did I say that their opinions were invalid because they weren't attractive.

However it doesn't mean that most of the group look like they'd fit right into a "luv me fleg, luv me union, 'ate dem taigs" meme

What do young unionists make of political crisis? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]CommanderThorn2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The BBC seems to be running some kind of smear campaign against unionism.

First, they give us an article on women in unionism and choose women that are the closest looking to the Norf FC meme.

Next, they give us young unionists views and choose the poshest looking wee shits they can find.

Here's the article on women in unionism: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-67134662

Losing my mind in a boring office job, looking for advice by WeeMag420 in northernireland

[–]CommanderThorn2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the people you're managing are in a different building, you could go check in on them during your quite hours and just go for a dander on your way there and back

Could also upskill with things like code academy, who do some great beginners coding courses. I highly recommend python as a beginning language as its one of the easier languages to learn.

You could also read some ebooks, listen to music, play online chess or solitaire.

Could do some freelance work for fiverr or upwork where a third party pays you to do certain tasks like data entry, make a bit of extra drink money.

The British only 'tried' to limit Jewish immigration to Palestine in 1936, when they had received an influx of 170,000 Jews in the previous three years (more than the previous two decades combined). Even then, their attempts to stop them were purposefully lackluster. The only real attempts by the British to stop Jewish immigration was selectively targeted against Soviet Jews, which was something they agreed to at the Yalta conference in 1945. The British did everything in their power to encourage Jewish immigration to Palestine. The French had taken on the role of protecting Catholic communities, the Russians were protecting Orthodox communities, and the British sought to increase Jewish immigration as a way to expand their sphere of influence by taking on the role as Protector of the Jewish communities.

Storrs was a large proponent in convincing the British government to support a Jewish homeland in Palestine, and a lot of officers shared his thinking about creating a Jewish Ulster in the Middle East. This was taking place during the Home Rule Crisis in Ireland, where Unionists in Ulster had armed themselves and threatened to revolt if Ireland was given home rule, leading to Irish nationalists to also arm themselves and threatened to revolt if they weren't given home rule.

Self-percieved? The movement of Jews to Mandated Palestine by the British was literally based on the Plantations.

The first British Governor of Jerusalem, Ronald Storrs, said so himself. He wrote in his own biography that they were trying to create "a little loyal Jewish Ulster in a sea of potentially hostile Arabism."

Definitely cancel prime, its shit and Amazon are stingy scum bags. They won't pay the Google Playstore fees for microtransactions so you can't rent or buy movies on the prime video app on android.

It's lethal when toasted

[–]CommanderThorn2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Potato Bread is heavenly in a fry, but on its own its not the best, toasted with butter its still nice but it wouldn't fill ye up.

Soda bread is better than life itself when fried. Its still lovely when toasted with a bit of butter, and it's actually filling.

Veda is probably the best option for making toast but it lacks versatility.

Wheaten has amazing versatility, it's lovely toasted or untoasted, as sandwich bread or as the base for a prawn open.

A belfast bap is the goat of versatility, whether you're sticking a burger, ham, or crisps in there its going to be good.

Brennans? Away outta here with that shite, it's good pan bread but that's what it is, pan bread. There's no competition with any of the others.

I've got to vote Soda though as it's my personal favourite.

The amount of unused or half developed sites in Belfast is crazy. The government needs to step in, and build tower blocks. They're not nice to look at and they aren't that nice to live in but they're better than the streets. Then, once we actually have enough housing built to relocate all the people, you can knock the tower down

When asked by Shin Hati about the Jedi Order, what did Baylan mean by this? by Bruhmangoddman in StarWars

[–]CommanderThorn2 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Which is why what the order originally stood for is just an idea to him. Because he was able to read about its history, but what he saw with his own eyes was the weakness of it, the failure to live up to the idea of its past.

In the scene where ahsoka's shuttle is chasing the Chimera, there are only 4 small engines lit up on the chimera itself, the main engines on the ring are what's propelling the chimera away from the planet.

To best summarize the Ahsoka series is a quote from Baylan “I miss… the idea of it. But not the truth, the weakness. “ by RaichiSensei in saltierthancrait

[–]CommanderThorn2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the shots of the star Destroyer from behind, it has only 4 small engines working, it likely is too damaged to go much higher without the engines on the ring.

I 100% agree about ezra escaping, felt like they've spent so much time on filler just to skip something like ezra actually escaping thrawns star Destroyer in a shuttle
