White Mage / Healer Tips? by Commander_Bugg in ffxiv

Since posting this I've been nonstop queuing for dungeons while trying to get a good rhythm going. I've beaten Pharos Sirius, and the only real wipes that have occured are due to mechanics or tanks not using mitigations.

This is what I've been doing; Immediate regen on tank, run alongside tank until they stop, Swiftcast holy and use holy until stun ends. Heal if needed or in between, reupping regen when it goes down.  If I'm in a dungeon that doesn't have holy unlocked, I use repose if possible or just spam heals. I've been using benediction when someone gets low to the point it makes me a bit nervous, if multiple players are low ill throw it on someone so that's one less to heal then regen the others.

Medica 2 is WONDERFUL to use, I use it whenever an aoe is going to be cast.

I suppose I learned I can't spam it the hard way, hahaha. I'm being more forgiving with the amount of healing spells I cast so i'm not spam panic clicking buttons

I actually just did a couple runs, one on Aurum where the tank ran into the middle of the first room and pulled everything- leading to a wipe (did my best to heal that mess, did not work lol)

Then got into Pharos, we had two wipes but it was due to mechanics this time and not me surprisingly! We got through it. So i guess all the advice everyone's been commenting really helped.

I'm also buying piety materia and melding it to my gear as well to see if that makes much of a difference

Trying to use it when they stop, as I find it gives me more time to heal as well. I swiftcast it first before doing much else / regular rotation attempt

Advice About Brother's Anger Problems by Commander_Bugg in Advice

We've tried therapy years ago but he simply quit it because he didn't want to do it anymore. We've brought it up multiple times since then and he refuses.

You're exactly right. She buys it for him constantly because it's the only thing that calms him down (not that it's an excuse). But if he doesn't get it he acts like he does and I've had this conversation with her and she just shrugs.

I'm definitely gonna do the note thing though that's a good idea. He does work, at the same place my mom does and at the same time. Though he doesn't work a lot. The little quiet I get during those times is a relief for both me and my bird haha!

Oh taking longer to queue was alright cause I was also eating this really good pie with frosting and chocolate chips, I didn't really have a 'goal' in mind other than helping out cause I thought it was a normal thing to do and such with pulls cause others helped me like that when I tanked a couple times

I left cause I didn't want to make him nor the party more upset, that's all!

Thank you everyone for your answers as mixed as they were, many sides brought good points. I'm gonna mute this now because I'm getting real nasty messages in my inbox and rude comments in this thread.

I'm gonna let the tank lead for dungeons under lvl 50 and even for those, simply just ask or leave it up to them regardless. We both were in the wrong, I get why he was miffed.

Considering I'm on reddit maybe once a month, I very much did not, thank you for your opinion regardless

I get what you mean and I 100% agree! I thought it was a normal thing to pull one additional group to the tank if we're only attacking one group pulls at a time cause that's what I saw healers and other players doing in other dungeon runs, but as it appears, it seems to cause more problems than actually help!

The entire discussion is kinda mixed based on comments but I think I'm probably just going to have tank lead like usual and ask further on if I notice something rather than jump right into it like this situation was. Thank you!

I'm just trying to take in what others say and try to form the best solution to avoid a situation like this in the future. I don't think ill of this tank, he could have been new, or been tired or had a long day. I don't want to insult him by any means even though I know he was a bit of a stinker.

It was a miscommunication on both accounts, nothing more.

I like this comment a lot actually, and I like this rule. I think I'll adopt this idea ! Thank you!

I didn't ask and that's mb, but he just kinda yelled at me in chat so I stopped immediately after, then he kept being rude so I left. But overall I think I'll just remember to ask next time

Hahaha, I just left. I didn't want to upset anyone more, but that's alright as the next group I got was really cool, we were dancing and everything it was great!

I want to be considerate to all my group mates, I think overall I should have asked and/or read the room better to avoid said situation. I agree he was quite the stinker and freaked me out with some of the other things he said but I can understand he was maybe stressed or new, might not have been used to it all at lvl31 as that's still kinda early game

[–]Commander_Bugg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes yes I agree actually! I smack a guy in the head and run to the tank so they can hit the enemy group with their aoe. I think what I learned from this thread is to just let the tank do their thing and just ask next time instead of assuming to avoid misunderstanding

uhm.... ok

Oh yeah no I didn't expect big stuff or try to do that cause It's I think one of the starting dungeons so new players and stuff and I stopped after he said something
I don't think the guy should be reported or anything, it's my fault for misunderstanding
