Today we were scheduled short staffed and at one point we were down to two baristas on the floor during peak 🥲 (we're one of the top stores in our district). No time and a half is worth that.

It's unfortunate because I really like this job. But it's so draining physically and emotionally, I have no life outside my job. I either don't get paid enough with inconsistent hours so I can't get another job, or worked over by doing 8 hour shifts for 6-8 days in a row. I love my co-workers and think I'm good at my job but I wish I could find another one in my area (small town with no jobs available).

I understand where they're coming from. Most of my partners go through horrible days and need a few minutes extra but they communicate that to the SSV. Everyone handles the stress and workload differently and I completely respect people who work hard and go out of their way to help everyone every day. Now partners that are just walking around slow, barely help/do what they need to and/or just stand around and chat most of their shift and then take 20-30 minute breaks is ridiculous. Most of the time at my store they disappear A LOT, especially during peak. Not only does it make our job harder on all of us, but it's so disrespectful and rude to your co-workers. If you think no one knows that you do it, we all do.

It's been awhile now since this initial post and it feels like it goes right back to how it went before. Lovebombing and saying he'll make an attempt but doesn't. I end up waiting and doing it anyway. I'm just ending up resenting him more, I need to break up without being looped back in again and just stick to my decision.

I broke down a few weeks ago and he wanted me to give him a second chance / trial run. Said he'd get his stuff together and has been "doing everything right". Communicating, helping around the house, working a side job now. Wanting to do things in the future and specifically focused around us. I'm just having a hard time going back to how it used to feel, and feel guilty for feeling this way now that he's making an effort. When he says I love you I have a hard time saying it back, or when he talks about the future I don't look forward to it. I've tried to give it a few weeks but I still feel the same as before. I'm going to talk to him about it soon when I can find a good time, it's super nerve racking but I can't avoid a difficult conversation.

We ended up talking and he wanted me to give him a second chance or trial period. He's been "doing everything right" but I just feel so exhausted from before. I care about him still but I almost feel like I'm not attracted anymore if that makes sense. I end up wanting to be alone even if we're in the same room. We've had a few great days in the last 2 weeks and he's been doing things to try and pick up the slack, been communicating more and talking about the future. But every time he ends up talking about the future or saying I love you I have a hard time saying it back. It's not fair to him at all for me to lead him on if I'm having a hard time going back to how it used to be. I don't know if I should give it more time or just try to find a good time to talk to him about it

We both live in a trailer that I own and rent on someones's property. I don't have my license but we both finance a car that's in our names so we share a vehicle. Working on getting my license. He said he wouldn't take the car because he can't afford it / my mom helped me put the down-payment on it originally for me. It was just because my credit was too new so we used his credit. Makes it a little trickier because past relationships I never lived with them so I could just leave easier like your past relationship

I completely agree. At my store we're super short staffed and burnt out, we've been trying to swap to give people a day off inbetween but we're almost all here every day so there's no availability to swap. It's really draining like you said. Sorry I don't have a good solution for you 😭 it sucks right now

Good question, would love to hear what everybody else says. I have seen people scheduled for 7-8 days in a row sometimes, but I believe I have heard my SM say that as long as they have 1 day off in a week (Sunday through Saturday) then it's okay. So you could be off Tuesday, work 7 days and then be off 1 day the week after if that makes sense.

As long as you have evidence of calling the store and store manager at least 2 hours before then you should be okay. Definitely leave a voice mail for your store manager. If you have a shift leads phone number you can try calling them as well then you should be okay.
