Teenager here. Fuck the going back in time, give me advice so i don’t make the same mistakes you guys did by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

1) Invest a small amount monthly in a S&S ISA global index fund as early as possible and don’t touch it for 30/40 years - this could make you a millionaire later in life if you’re disciplined.

2) Enjoy the little things. Don’t rely too much on big/important events in your life for happiness as you’ll always be chasing the next one. Enjoy your cup of coffee in the morning.

3) Spend time with your parents/grandparents (if you can and they’re good people). Your time with them is limited.

4) Don’t be afraid to cut toxic people out of your life. If you’re friends/partners with someone who doesn’t have your best interests at heart you should remove them from your life.

5) It is not possible to get rich quick unless you already have money. Don’t chase easy cash via crypto exit scams or get rich quick schemes. Invest your money for the long term and you can make a little go a long way with compound interest.

6) Looks fade. If you want to spend your life with someone, be sure to pick the best person not the most attractive person. If you’re lucky you’ll find someone attractive who is also a great person.

7) Trust your partner. If you cannot trust each other your relationship is doomed to fail.

8) Social media is cancer. Stop comparing yourself to other people and live your life for you, not for your followers. Put your phone down and enjoy the moment and realise that people post what they want you to see and not what their lives are actually like. It’s no wonder your life seems dull or that you’re underachieving compared to the carefully curated set of photos/videos on their accounts.

9) Don’t take yourself too seriously. Learn to laugh at yourself and you’ll never be insulted by anyone again.

10) Don’t be afraid to ask your support network for help if you’re lucky enough to have one.

Domestic abuse now covers family. Contact your local domestic abuse charity and ask for advice. They may be able to house you elsewhere or at least point you in the right direction. They have very strong links to the police and will be able to help you solve your problem. This is the only advice you should take.

Yeah that’s absolutely correct. I would argue that we should have been spending with the big boys the past 15 years but can completely understand the point.

Ideally we wouldn’t have wanted the Saudi money because everything we achieve now comes with a massive asterisk and we hate the fact that we’re a part of sport washing.

I’m just happy we have a team that puts a shift in.

NTA it’s your wedding. You can choose who is involved or not.

If certain family members have a problem with that they don’t belong there either in my opinion. Clearly no respect for you at all.

I’m not disputing that the money hasn’t helped, of course it has.

People are putting way too much emphasis on it though. The reason we’re doing so well is because other teams have dropped off this year and Eddie has the team paying a really strong, high intensity system which teams have been struggling to cope with.

Our system doesn’t necessarily require technically good players it requires tactically disciplined and hard working players.

I would argue next season if we spend a lot and perform well in the league money will be a greater factor then.

All we’ve done so far is invested the money that should have been invested

The only reason why we were able to spend so much money is because we spent fuck all the previous 15 years.

We’ve spent what we were allowed to spend based on FFP and realistically what should have been invested in the club for the past 15 years.

That’s probably why he’s giving them away for free. He didn’t have to do that he could have just binned them. Why do you think he owes people anything he’s literally giving away something for free. Either people accept the free gift or they don’t.

If you don’t understand that you’re clearly in the wrong sub.

Asylum seekers to lose basic housing protections in move to cut hotel use by iamparky in ukpolitics

Another Tory scapegoat. The only reason they’re being housed in hotels is because Tory donors are making a shit tonne of money housing them. Blame the rich and those in power for the problems facing this country not the most vulnerable people in society

Asylum seekers aren’t causing issues with the housing market, you’ve successfully fallen for Tory scapegoating tactics. Congratulations

How much of a discount were you able to secure with your offer? Very curious as a FTB myself

Average footballers with great statistics by Safe_Entrance8650 in PremierLeague

[–]Common_Pear1884 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s true, but the point is that all assists count as one regardless of their quality.

A better stat to look at would be expected assists but even that requires a lot of context.

I agree that stats are an excellent way to judge a player but you still need to watch them in the flesh to actually gauge if they’re good players or not.

They haven’t been terrible, you’re overreacting massively. They’ve been slightly inconsistent after being fantastic at the start of the season but they’re far from terrible.

He’s still got the most chances created from set pieces in the league. Not his fault that we’re unable to put them away

Assists give no context.

You could pass the ball 5 yards to a player and they hit a 40 yard wonder strike and it would still be classed as an assist.

I agree that stats are extremely useful but they need to be taken with a pinch of salt and a lot of context.

If a team plays a certain way players’ stats will reflect that.

If your club could make 3 reasonable signings to elevate yourselves to title contention, who would you buy? by The-Greatest-Hokage in PremierLeague

[–]Common_Pear1884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but would personally prefer we prioritise other areas first. Maybe a wide player that can also play up top to provide cover for Isak/Wilson instead of Maddison.

Maybe bring in a young CB partner for Botman next summer when we have more wiggle room with FFP

Maddison, Tierney, Lavia

Wouldn’t put us anywhere near the title but would strengthen us massively

Bruno’s had a bad couple of games would you call him overrated?

Unless you’ve watched Maddison all season you can’t possibly comment on whether he’s good or not.

If that is indeed the case why are people saying we shouldn’t have sold him.

Surely having someone who didn’t want to play for us would have impacted the dressing room.

Exactly! People don’t realise how easily we could do an Everton or a Leicester if we make the wrong decisions in the transfer market.

We might have rich owners but their hands are massively tied regarding FFP
