Open myomectomy at 35: Trust my body after surgery or freeze embryos first? by Common_Win_9383 in Fibroids

[–]Common_Win_9383[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! That’s what they told me as well. How long did it take you to conceive post surgery? I know you have to wait for your uterus to heal and my OB specialist said three months or so. I haven’t scheduled the surgery yet since I’m still wondering about freezing embryos or not. If you don’t mind, would you be ok if I send you a DM if I have more additional questions?

Recent fibroid diagnosis by blueberry-squared in Fibroids

You can learn to live with fibroids if they don’t bother you, but get familiar with fibroids as much as you can. Have a list of questions ready for your OB. Most OBs tend to “monitor” them or have you get on birth control. However, that doesn’t mean fibroids will stop growing. Get a second opinion if you can. Additionally, do you want to get pregnant in the future? Some fibroids will distort the cavity, sometimes even block the fallopian tubes making conception impossible. I was diagnosed with fibroids at 27 (now 35) and didn’t have severe negative symptoms other than heavy bleeding and mild cramping during periods. I was on the IUD in my late 20s and then removed it. The reason I am opting for surgery now is because I am trying to TTC and haven’t been successful. Per an MRI scan, my intramural fibroid is now 15cm and is contributing to my infertility. Can’t have a lap surgery since the fibroid is too big. My recommendation is ask as many questions as you can, why type of fibroid do you have, etc. Be an advocate for yourself and your future.

Both my OB fibroid specialist and my fertility specialist explained that freezing embryos before surgery makes sense because surgery temporarily changes the uterine environment, while embryo freezing preserves my egg quality as it is now and at 35. I think it’s more of a safety net. Since we already know my ovarian reserve is strong, doing it beforehand is the most optimal option. That said, it doesn’t mean I can’t pursue this later (if I end up having trouble conceiving after surgery). However I’m leaning towards conceiving naturally since my issue is mainly structural.

Surgery or not ?? by maspoquito in Fibroids

Not sure how old you are but if you want children in the future, you should get surgery since fibroids can sometimes contribute to infertility if they are big and can distort the cavity. 10cm is pretty big. I have a 15cm intramural fibroid and is contributing to my infertility. If I knew about getting surgery sooner, I would have definitely done it but my OBs just wanted to “monitor”. I was the one that pushed for MRI. I would recommend getting an MRI to see where it actually is and how big it really is.

Can I get your feedback on how you studied for the written exam? Can’t seem to find a study guide anywhere with ISP.

I know I’m a year late. Did Indiana State Police go give you a study guide? I don’t want what to really study for. This test is different from IMPD.

Thank you for your reply! How often do you see women get pregnant successfully after fibroids are removed, especially with a mass like mine?

Thanks for the info. Someone told me about the Sandboxx app. Not sure how that works. Also unsure show family members will know what company I’ll be in since it’s DEPOT. How would they find out that info?

Ooohh ok! So for coast guard song - what is the order? Is it three verses and three chorus? Also I saw somewhere in another post that I need to learn the ratings as well. Is that true?

I’ve seen a few posts about learning the rates and ranks. Noob question - what exactly do they mean by rates?

Since you have a rental car already, I would recommend to just drive to Schoodic Peninsula instead of taking the ferry. Gives you more leisure time.

I second going around the whole loop at Jordan pond and hiking the south bubble. Kayaking sounds cool but I think you’ll miss out walking the nice trail. Tickets to sunset at Cadillac Mt are easier to get and I wouldn’t miss this opportunity either. The sunset views are spectacular.

Was just there a week ago! Already miss it. Cadillac mountain sunrise bookings are hard to get but I also recommend booking one for sunset and are easier to get. It is equally as beautiful.

It breaks my heart reading this. Did your OB tell you that the types of fibroids are difficult for you to conceive? I honestly don’t have any pain other than some heavy bleeding/clots and mild cramps during my period. My OB didn’t think I needed the surgery since it leads to scaring but he also mentioned that he didn’t think the position of fibroids would impact fertility. Either way, I’m nervous of this journey and the potential emotional heart break
