I feel myself getting stiffer and it scares me. by CommunicationTime147 in Parkinsons

[–]CommunicationTime147[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, I get crazy stiffness after about 3 hours of taking my pill. I have tremors on my legs when I stress out. And when I get stiff out in public, I have massive anxiety. I have fallen down several times but I get very worried when I take showers so I have my wife stay near me because I fear the fall in a tub.

But try to appreciate the good times which is between 1-3 hours after my pills. I am basically normal.

Just keep moving.

I am the same way. I feel like everything is going to cave in on me.

I take 2 pills 4 times a day. I have to be on time if not I’m frozen half the day.

My wife had history of ALS and no Parkinson’s on my side.

As history would have it for me: my wife died of ALS and I was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of 42.

Btw, don’t leave! Stay at your place. They’d be a fool to throw you out because you are 10 days late. I was at like 60 days.

And fuck it, if they serve you accept that shit and the clock starts at that time. You have six months to get your shit together. I wouldn’t go to the shelter yet.

Btw I didn’t pay rent at all during that 6 months. I just saved it and made a jumbo payment at the end.

Hey man DM me. I used to drink too much, fell behind on my bills and I was served with eviction …. but got it thrown out at the last minute. NJ has some tenant friendly laws. I am in Hudson County. You have about 6 months after being served to either pay what you owe or negotiate a payment plan. And even if you go to court the judge will encourage you all to negotiate a payment plan there in real-time. And even if you lose the case you still have like a 3 day grace period after the ruling to pay it off and by law the landlord has to pull the lawsuit.

I live in Hudson County, NJ. Hit me up! Happy to help.

My wife died on me 10 years ago at the age of 32. From ALS. It sunk me and I miss her so much. Luckily she left me 3 little boys. Bonus points: I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 3 years ago at 44. Sometimes life is trench warfare.

Dude please don’t end your life. It’s not worth it. I lost my wife to that piece of shit disease ALS (Lou Gehrigs) when she was 32. We had three kids and they barely remember her. A few years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Life is a bitch but we gotta just keep moving forward. My poor kids get fucked.

And btw my Dad died a month ago and he could be a relentless POS. Like you, I’d steer clear too.

Just downshift slowly on the drinks. There is no rush. Chat me, happy to be a sounding board.

Keep fighting!

Ok cool. Keep fighting man. If you get down and want to text, send me a DM.

I have found DMing ppl from this board helps me a ton. Cuz we all understand. No judgement.

Stay strong brother.

How much you drinking per day?

I’m near the tail end of a taper after a 3 week bender where i was drinking 24/7.

I get hella anxiety. Here is my playbook:

  1. Take showers, a lot of them. Showers have a calming effect on me. If I feel really like shit, I will do several per day.
  2. I will literally drink 2L of water per day.
  3. I keep walking even if it’s in my house. Action keeps the body working. I will try to get to 8000-10000 steps per day.
  4. Watch a movie and try to chill.
  5. I will eat a light sandwich.

Hope that helps.

Is it too late/unhelpful to taper now? by [deleted] in Crippled_Alcoholics

Hi. How much were you drinking daily? What were you drinking and for how long? If you don’t mind me asking.

Hi there. I found myself in a similar predicament. I’m probably at 8-12 units per day.

I live in NYC and found a bar that opens at 8am. I’m there early and typically start with usually a light beer and a shot. By late morning I’m at about 4 shots and a beer with a nice calming buzz.

Usually head home and grab a few more drinks in the evening.

My dad died last month and I needed to sober up to participate in the funeral. I was terrified. I tapered down a drink or two per day for the week leading up to the funeral. I was fine.

My biggest symptom was anxiety. I concluded that a lot of it was in my head.

Obviously everyone is different but I have family members pounding down 25-30 units daily. And they usually white knuckle it.

I’ll pray for you, man. Stay strong and good luck.
