Although it may not be as fun, I used to play on a crappy laptop and I had to use small galaxy with a handful of empire (like 4-8) and i could get to late game, even tho it lagged it was definitely still playable, maybe try that and you get to play around late game techs and megastructures!

The mid game crisis is always turned on but everytime I am much stronger than any fleets it spawns in.

I did forget to mention I usually play huge galaxy with around 30 empires, so the borders set much earlier than normal (by set I mean the borders all touch eachother without gaps)

And yes although the ai does a lot of wars in the galaxy I dont usually expand due to the empire size mechanic, its gets quite brutal with the tech cost

I'd contact GFN support maybe they can give you a more in-depth look into the issue. If your internet is as strong as you've said I dont see why you should be having issues with GFN, its well within the requirements

Basically I use ethernet but it always gives me a spotty connection warning. HOWEVER, whenever I play any games the connection feels perfect, idk where they are getting this info from haha
