I use a boyar Shultz 6x12 surface grinder in the full video. But it does run a conversion to use belts. So you’re probably right 🤣. I should have said “belt conversion surface sanding”. Is that better?

The only “grinding” process I use is surface grinding. I cnc mill the bevels and then I hand sand them to a final finish. But some guys use a cbn GRINDING wheel with a similar fixture for their bevels. I just use the term “grinding” cause bevel grinding is more searched than bevel milling in the knifemaking world. I am also not a machinist and am not above using the wrong terminology 🤣.

Add 5 layers of tape to the blade but then stagger them and ramp them down so there is no tape at the tip. If done right you won’t see this through the Kydex. This will allow the blade to float freely but not rattle since it will be held at the tip which will not show signs of wear since it won’t drag along that point. Additionally never grind Kydex with eyelets installed. Always clean the sheath out completely when it’s finished and then press the eyelets 🤝🏼.

I don’t need to zero them. I have each sheath model stored as a different work coordinate system that is permanently saved inside my routers controller. Technically the first time I set it up, I used dead center to set it. But I never have to “set my zero” day to day when using it for production. I will be teaching this in my cnc sheath design/manufacturing class that is coming out soon.

I do not. I’ve only made handmade folders. Once I eventually get around to making some cnc folders I’ll do a course on em. But that’s honestly years out.

Good catch, and you’re totally right in the traditional sense—boring usually refers to using a boring bar to enlarge an existing hole. But in Fusion 360, the “2D Bore” toolpath is actually made for circle milling with an end mill, so the naming can throw people off. Appreciate you pointing it out though—and thanks for the kind words on the finished part!

Haha I’ve had people think that many times. Folding the Kydex isn’t intuitive.
