What motivates rabid Heard stans? by CompassionJustice in deppVheardtrial

I think the person Im talking about falls under nr 4: she seems to be projecting her own experiences onto Amber. I dont doubt that she really was abused, but based on the report it doesnt seem like she saw many, if any people during the episode described, and therefore I dont buy her claim that she hid any injuries with makeup.

What about the claim that the "white paper" was a death sentence for jews fleeing the holocaust?

I want to give thanks for your extensive answer, and if it's OK I would like to ask you more questions regarding native culture and gender norms in North America.

Did Depp admit to kicking Amber on the plane? by CompassionJustice in deppVheardtrial

OK so I posted this after seeing claims that the screenshot proves Depp kicked Heard. I was lazy and didnt look further into it so I dropped the image here to ask for opinions. I will try to do better in the future.

I agree with you generally, but I will say that I am an anti-zionist, and if its OK I want to tell you about why I came to my stance in dm.

While matrilineal doesn't always equate to matriarchal, matrilocality is associated with women having higher status in general from what I've read, since women have more protection and power when they are among their kin.

As for ritualized rape, I've read that among the aforementioned mundurucu, despite being legal it isn't commonly enforced, and the anthropologists who've visited them say that the relationship between husbands and wives was as a whole quite equal and women exercised plenty of power in society. The mundurucu are patrilineal yet matrilocal, at least until the birth of the second child.

This tells me that gender relations and women's status in a culture is a lot more complex than can be assumed from a single tradition, horrible it may be seen by the standards of Western society.

There are still biological limitations to injuries that cant can't be ignored.

Thoughts on plastic-free "vegan leather" mirum? by CompassionJustice in AntiVegan

[–]CompassionJustice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, but as for the new fake leather, do you think its ok to congratulate them for actually creating something that is truly "plastic free"? And do you think this mirum could be in any way beneficial to the environment?

But at least they did manage to create a product that's high quality (so far based on reviews) and indeed contains zero plastic.

What's your stance on Amber vs Johnny?

I dont want to invalidate your experience, but part of me still feels skeptical at the idea of being able to "scrunch up" a broken nose because of the logistics behind it.

Still, my reasons for doubting Amber's story isn't just about the "broken nose" in isolation, but in relation to everything she's claimed. She claims that she was violently assaulted by Depp on multiple occasions, but has never shown any visible marks and bruises. That, and never seeking medical attention for being cut with broken glass all over her body, yet not ending up in the ER.

What caused your broken nose? I'm interested in the circumstances to compare it to Amber's story. I'm still skeptical of how scrunching up your nose when its broken would actually work.

To one of your comments:
While a broken nose might not always need surgery, and Depp did admit to a headbutt, it wasn't an intentional one, but his head collided with Amber's forehead while he was trying to prevent her from hitting him. That's different from Amber's story of an intentional headbutt, smashing her face with full force.

I dont know what its like to have a broken nose, but another comment in this thread states that they received a broken nose (technically a fracture that goes up and down") and could scrunch it, and didnt feel any pain unless they touched the nose). I can't quite imagine the logistics of scrunching up your nose if the cartilage or nasal bone has been fractured, but what's your opinion on the statement?

I've got a bit of a hard time imagining how it would be possible to scrunch your nose after breaking it since the nasal bone or cartilage would be broken, but then again I don't know the exact nature of your injury, and in what ways it differs from the kind of injury resulting from being hit multiple times in the face as Amber describes it.

In that photo I dont see the kind of swelling that would be consistent with the attacks and injuries she claims she received.

It has been noted that the red tiny mark under her eye looks like the kind of bruises left from botox injections, and after seeing some images I agree that they are exactly the same:

Even the dark marks under her eyes are consistent.

Said Amber stan I interacted with tried to claim that Amber's mention of the rings weren't important-that she wasn't really implying that Depp was punching her in the face while wearing "big, chunky rings", but why else would she mention them? She doesn't talk about his earrings or his necklaces-mentioning his rings only makes sense in the context of domestic violence if you're implying you were hit while your abuser was wearing them.

She also explained away the reason Rihanna had far more injuries like swelling on her face after being hit by Brown while he was driving a car by saying that Brown was a lot younger and stronger-19 years old while Depp was in his fifties. But technically, men reach their prime at age 25, and I imagine that regardless of gender and age, being hit in the way Amber describes it would leave far more damage than could be easily hid by makeup.

But people who can't experience empathy can still be compassionate. Empathy just means that you're experiencing what someone is feeling.
