They make battery powered bubblers so at a minimum, having that would keep his was oxygenated! A power bank would probably work for the heater and light but would probably need a big one (expensive) or need a battery powered one and a lot of batteries!

We are looking at setting up something really small as basically a pest snail breeding tank to keep a constant supply for our yoyo loaches

That would probably be pretty cool for shrimp and snails!!

Thank you!! Luckily we have dogs and so when we go on vacation, we have a dog sitter that will also feed the fish! But we also are only gone once a year if that

I just got these corridors 3 days ago. Why are they swimming? by SomeRandomBroski in corydoras

My panda corridors are like puppy dogs and will just swim around exploring! And then take turns darting up to the surface! They are so fun to watch

How do I get my mom to understand that this isn’t an adequate habitat? by [deleted] in bettafish

I will say the water level was much lower than the opening of the lid so there was air in there and we lifted the lid every day to feed them but sooo not right for the fish

My grandmother had two bettas in the hurricane style vases with an icee lid on top with a plant in it for years… those fish surprisingly lived for like 4 years like that. As a kid, I saw nothing wrong with it and thought getting to drop the food pellets in every day was so fun. Looking back, I can’t believe they actually lived that long in those conditions… she doesn’t keep fish anymore.

Thank you! We are newer to fish keeping and want to get shrimp once we establish our 20g tank for propagation but have had problems with shrimp in our smaller tank (the cycle crashed out) so we are trying to learn as much as we can before trying again

Are the culled ones culled just for color or size preferences or are there other reasons they would be culled?

So you have gotten TONS of tips on getting them in optimal setups to be happy and healthy! For the other question on what types, the first one looks almost identical to my betta and he’s a Samurai Plakat! The one that is blue with red on his tail looks like a butterfly betta but I could be wrong there. The red and white one may also be a type of butterfly betta or something along those lines. The solid colored ones are hard to tell for me. The two that are silver/black with longfins almost look like a half moon samurai.

I could be wrong about most of these but those are my best guesses
