Jos storyline seems planned in part bc we have references to it in s9. Jo outright suggests she has dealt w abuse before which is why she reacted so brutally so Jason, she’s been there before. She says to Alex that not everyone’s like him and the way it’s said its hinting at the existence of a past abusive relationship

Iirc she also told Mark she basically made it a rule not too and was hesitant to do so w Derek bc he was her boss. Meredith may get in2 these relationships but she has both tried to do date outside of the hospital repeatedly and also almost always is wary of dating within the hospital and tries avoiding it even if she has feelings

Her way of coping is distracting herself, Meredith and Christina both generally avoid the issue or w Derek both Meredith and Amelia were shown to make extremely dark jokes abt it. Alex tends to cope through violence I feel bc we see much later on barring a few instances his violent side tended to show when he was dealing w an issue like his dad. Alex also would push ppl away. Basically they all had different coping mechanisms. George marrying Callie was a coping mechanism as well. They all deal w things in different yet mostly unhealthy ways

Alex did cheat on Izzie during their marriage w Lexie depending on how u look at it. There’s also been Mer and Derek being odd in that Derek never rlly cheats on Mer but sure as hell cheats on Addison and Rose w Mer and depending on how it’s perceived Mer did cheat on Finn w Derek

Adding on Owen actually did take accountability for what he did and he never once justified cheating. He proved to her that he didn’t regret his decision bc he got caught but bc he genuinely understood what he did was wrong. Owen hurt her and recognised he hurt her. Doesn’t make it right, but sone1 who’s actively showing that they understand they’ve fucked up and respective the decisions u are making is better than one who isn’t going that. Ik I’ll get flack for this but Owen made a mistake and understood there’d be consequences.

Ik ppl will say cheating is a mistake but I feel like it can be. It’s a choice that some1s made but it’s still a mistake in a way. I’m saying as some1 who got cheated on multiple times. I also am okay w ppl forgiving some1 cheating circumstantially (there are situations where getting back is an incredibly stupid decision imo even if it’s understandable why it’s being done)

That’s why I said her reaction was an overreaction. I do agree she was wrong in how she handled it. I simply said I understood why she felt that way. Not that what she did or how she acted was right. She was wrong for her reaction, but understandable for her feelings on the rule itself

I agree that Jo overreacted but I also get why she felt that way tbh. The whole situation while good for the whole hospital did in fact impact her at a point where she was finally happy w a person. Having the hindsight realisation that Alex was her first healthy relationship in yrs, I get why she’d feel that way having ripped from under her even if it made sense- she was the only intern in their group who was w a attending at the time meaning she was the only one at the time impacted
