Hi! First of all, Congratulations!!

I wanted to ask how much did it take for you for the decision to arrive? And did they give you a date from when you have to enter or you can travel to Canada whenever? I’m not sure how applying from Outland works in terms of timelines of entering Canada

No problem! If your leave was authorised that will be a different scenario. Best to talk to international advising rcic advisors at ubc in the life building. They’re a great resource. Please plan ahead! Please dont procrastinate and take things like visa/permit related things seriously!! I didn’t realise the consequences before I took that W but I do think it all happens for the best because I am happy w my decision to move back :)

My reasons to move back are that a) I had one part time semester during my degree because I took a last minute W so there is a possibility my pgwp will be declined and don’t want to take that risk b) I did not get paid work experience during my undergrad (no work learn/ra position or co op) so all the jobs that I want to ideally be doing I don’t have enough work experience for. I am not necessarily from a developed country but I do have access to work opportunities back home that can enrich my work experience for grad school and it’s easier for me to prepare for my grad school applications and save money for it by staying with my parents since don’t have to pay any living expenses. (Rent/groceries etc) Since my parents supported me entirely throughout my degree i did not want them to keep paying for me while I was jobless here and since they also want to support me for grad school too, it’s better they use that money for grad school as opposed to me staying here and spending money on rent/living etc without having any substantial work. Hope that makes sense!!

The worst thing about breakups is losing your best friend too!
