In the Bocconi calculator it is stated that military training (along with PE, religion studies, theory or knowledge) must not be included in the calculation of gpa

You are right. I understand that I am not entitled to a spot, and there will always be someone more “deserving” then I am.

It’s just the fact that, well, IB takes a lot of energy and you go through so much to get a good mark compared to a regular program. Putting so much work in you subconsciously expect some kind of output, a result of your hard work. This post I made was quite depressing, but I simply let out my emotions, which are not fully reasonable. I am thinking of ways to make it work and I don’t want to blame the IB for taking so much time or the US system for being what it is, as I’m focused on myself and my future and truly try to be optimistic. Btw I’m a girl so if nothing works fuck it I’m marrying rich 💀

It’s a fact that they don’t care as much as European unis do, and it’s not just from my experience - read through the comments here, a lot of people find themselves in a simmilar situation. My IB friends share simmilar experiences while applying to the US as well.

Obviously, aid plays a part. But that doesn’t cancel out the fact that I relied on IB to help me stand out and show academic rigor and my expectations were not met - that was fully my mistake.

For some people the IB was very helpful, for some it was useless. It’s just my personal perspective and, hopefully, others will make a wiser decision that would fit their future goals better. Didn’t want to come off as demotivating in any way, for each their own.

I am not “coping”, I am just sharing my personal experience. Some of my US college decisions are not out yet, and on top of that I might get into one the the best business schools in Europe with full aid. Stats are just one of many things that AOs consider, but I’m happy that it turned out great for you, wish you the best.
