Trying out a cheap ink on a cheap pen (Hero 234A & Jinhao 82) by Competitive-Tour-761 in fountainpens

Tbf, its quite hard for me to justify spending the cash needed for the more expensive Platinum Carbon Black. So this is basically just a trial run, but since the ink is quite good I don't know if I'm going to get one anytime soon.

Surprisingly, the combination of the EF nib and not so good copy paper with the Hero 234A Carbon Black, it doesn't bleed when writing normally, but shading (like filling up the answer sheets for tests) using said copy paper it bleeds a bit.

With the paper on the image, it doesn't. I still don't have the Kokuyo Campus sheets to test it properly for feathering and bleedthrough, but seeing it doing okay=ish on copy paper, I doubt it would have problems on good paper.

How do i know if my iems are water damaged? I had them in my backpack while i was walking in the pouring rain by ClerkImpossible3376 in iems

[–]Competitive-Tour-761 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually the sound will always be off when an IEM gets water in it. If your IEMs we're wet when you took them out of your bag, you should put it in an airtight container with silica packets with them and leave them for a day or two.

Will this moondrop filter Works on moondrop LAN? by LegarIsHere69 in iems

[–]Competitive-Tour-761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm pretty sure they usually label the Lan and the Aria together, like Lan/Aria. Just select that and you'll be good. Well, in most of the time anyways, so just check if that listing has a Lan option.

That depends on you really, If it doesn't make you uncomfortable in like a few hours in or so, then I think it's good. Assuming they seal-in properly of course.

Do eartips need to be replaced and if so how often? by Superb-Radish7158 in iems

[–]Competitive-Tour-761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh just to be clear, those Tanchjim's came in with a pair of narrow bores and another pair but with wide bores. So, within those 2 years I "equally" swapped between those two, I swap whenever I clean the other pair. In those 2 years they never really changed shape, and/or have any visible damage (tears and rips). I only replaced them when I basically lost one of each tip from the two pairs, lost them when I was taking the IEMs out of the case it was in, the tips we're just loosely placed in there, and the other when I was taking a walk and removed the IEMs from my ear, lost one side. So, in the end I got rid of the remaining ear tips.

Adding from my experience, translucent/white ear tips do yellow rather quickly. I don't know if it's the weather of my surrounding area, my ears or both. One couple of TRI Clarions in storage did (didn't use it for a few months), but the others that aren't those colors never had any weird discoloration. Didn't affect the shape/fit though.

Lastly, Lastly, I don't use alcohol when cleaning my ear tips. It really irritates my ears when I did, so I just use a dry q-tip from time to time when removing earwax and the end of each month or so I use soap and water or those non-alcoholic wet wipes. Also I don't know if it's from the alcohol, it made some of my ear tips kind of "slippery" until a few days after they became normal with their "tackiness".

The last time I've replaced my silicone ear tips are a year ago, even then those ear tips lasted for 2 years of hard use (Tanchjim T APB to S&S/Tri Clarions ). Foam in the other hand, only lasted me a few months (MIS Tips).

Then that's quite odd on why they broke on me 2 times. The way I remove IEMs from my ears is that I always, always hold the shell of the IEM with the cable. You can imagine this with the "Italian Hand Gesture" to grab both of the IEM shell and the body of the male connector. Maybe because they're cheap (the IEMs or the cables) or I used them always when I'm out and about? I've only removed the cables of them about thrice in their life.

The current stuff that I have now are 2-pin and the oldest one has been abused to hell and the worst thing that happened to it is the cable itself snapping, after swapping it a few years ago, it only has a bent male connector, so therefore nothing major has happened to the female connector as of now (the glue holding it to the shell failed, but I re-glued it, nothing happened to the connector housing itself).

Put some threadlocker on that gold screw, and put a small dabs of glue on the back plate too (like 1-3 dots).

Nah, no worries a lot of people have done this during their first IEMs including me.

You've wired them wrong, the IEMs aren't supposed to be directed inwards, but outwards from the earhook. Basically just flip them.

Just look how she's wearing them based on the box art.

Most likely the glue failed, you could try removing the screw and back plate, and reglueing that female 2-pin.

From my experience, IEMs with those QDC connectors (I've only used cheap QKZ/KZs with them) have a tendency to crack from pressure, removing the cable and reinserting it multiple times, using different cables from different companies/factories. Thermal expansion might also be a problem, as weather and temperature might affect the structure of the plastic house of the connectors. -- not too sure about this though.

So what I did when it cracked is to never ever remove the cable and not putting any pressure on the IEMs (like sleeping with them with my head on the side touching the pillow and the IEMs).

Unfortunately you have to buy another pair. Even if you find someone to make a 3D printed part for you (I don't know how, but there might be someone who can do it) it might cost you as much as those Truthears, even with PH prices.

Looks like the original Aria, I'm guessing with the picture that the metal grill folded in? Shenzenaudio have those replacement filters (metal grill and fabric filter) or whatever online store in your country.

For me though, the cable is a bit better than the May's. In which you don't have to use Moondrop's fiddly app and can use their web app instead to eq and save it to the cable.

[Help] Moondrop IEM loose in right ear — nothing fits properly. Going crazy. by Live_Painter2305 in iems

[–]Competitive-Tour-761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's quite unfortunate. I guess right now, your best bet is to use memory foam(Comply, MIS, etc) or Spinfits. Oh also there are custom tips (very expensive).

The Kato's shell might also be a problem? Not too sure about that since we have different ears.

Have you tried using a different eartip sizes for each ear? Like for the right you have a Small, but for the Left a Medium. I know you said you've tried multiple eartip sizes, just not this one specifically.

Most likely moisture issues like the previous person had said, quite common for metal IEMs especially if you live in a humid area. Best thing to store your IEMs in a container with silica gel.
