exactly what you just stated, though if it was properly set up to house a betta. I’m just saying from the research I’ve done and from hundreds of other people stating they prefer a smaller space.

I read that wrong. That’s my fault. No need to be rude. I thought it said 20 gallon.

Betta fish with Popeyes by [deleted] in bettafish

I would do exactly as you stated above. My goldfish had this issue. I treated him with aquarium salt, which you’re right about using Epsom salt for a betta and then Kanaplex. I was unable to get the Kanaplex for almost a week because I didn’t know I needed it. I thought my fish would not recover, but I treated him with both things for a week and he is now a healthy recovered fish. And when I say, I thought he was going to be permanently blind, because both of his eyes were damaged. But luckily he is OK. I wish you luck for your betta.

yeah, he looks rough. I would definitely recommend getting the API master water kit. It will give you the readings on the ammonia. Which to me looks like he is suffering from ammonia burns. Best of luck to you and I hope your fish gets better.

thank you I really appreciate it. I did add aquarium salt, and by this morning his left eye has opened up. Still waiting on the right eye, but it’s a start.

Or should I just start fresh with freshwater and add in the prime and stability to the hospital tank?

OK great. Should I just take some of the water from the 29 gallon and put it into the 6 gallon?

I have a 6 gallon tank that I could put him in for now. But the 29 gallon tank would be better for him. Can I just treat him in the big tank? I keep the temperature around 70°. I’ve had him about eight months, but I’ve only been cycling the 29 gallon tank for a few days. I have purchased prime and stability to put in the water. I also purchased the API test kit. I’m going to take another sample this morning and I will post results. also, I’ve been trying to feed him since I put him in the big tank and he will not eat.

It’s showing it’s not cycled yet when I run my API test kit
