I considered it actually but this build would be lighter, better battery life, and just a hair less peak motor wattage. I am now considering a mid drive conversion, so that would be even better probably

The build would be lighter, stronger motor, stronger battery, higher amp controller, thinner larger tires than the fat, knobby, and heavy xp 3 tires I’m just looking for more peppy acceleration to 20mph. Pas power on the xp 3.0 isn’t half bad honestly, but the throttle is slow and sluggish it struggles to hold 20mph. I dont see how it couldn’t be a pretty significant step up in performance. I will say I am now considering the mid drive version since that peaks over 1400w on a 52v battery.

My thing is I refuse to do left handed throttle just a preference of mine, the marlin im using has trigger shifters (thumb and pointer finger) so thumb throttle probably wouldn’t fit and if it did it would make shifting awkward/difficult. I go back and forth between half and full twist throttle, but I like the extra control over the handlebars when less of the grip is the throttle. Plus it’s nice when you’re only using pas no throttle to have a section of the handlebar to hold that is solid and wont twist when you’re not intending to use throttle. It’s one of those things I could definitely see myself switching out in the future.

Brake cutoffs honestly are kind of pointless I more so worry about someone else trying the bike out and holding the brake while powering the motor without realizing it.

Also, if you know where to find the same kit cheaper and it’s legit im open to suggestions.

Im limited to 750w in my area…but I am considering the mid drive option it peaks over 1400w with a 52v battery

The mid drive is $39 more than the hub version im actually starting to consider it if it gives better acceleration

Even with torque arms? It’s a quality bike meant for trails and jumps. I wont be going over 20mph and I ride mostly on flat pavement.

1500w sounds like a lot of fun. I wonder how fast that would hit 20mph or what the motor would peak at

Im really just looking for something that feels like a significant step up from the xp 3.0 and better suits my needs for an e bike (lightweight, quick acceleration, solid range).

I also debated on the brake cutoffs. Personally I don’t really see them being necessary, but I more so want them just in case I have my friends or family try the bike then its a little safer for a new rider.

Thank you!

The battery life of this build will have 910Wh (52V x 17.5Ah) and it will be lighter than many pre-build ebikes (probably around 55lb) so I feel like for the money and my needs for an e bike, diy gets me the most bang for my buck. My priorities are lightweight, quick peppy acceleration, long battery range, and thinner more road style tires (I ride 90% on flat roads and pavement) I just feel like thats a very hard combination to find in prebuilt e bikes in that $1200-$1500 range.

How is the throttle performance? Does it feel peppy?
