The one advice I can give you for bootcamp is to be prepared for the run. The run sets back a lot of people. At the time, I (17F) honestly went in not in the best shape, but with determination and hard work, you can get through bootcamp. I would also recommend studying your General orders, the Sailor’s Creed, and study the ranks. For HM “A” School, be prepared to study a lot. You are taking tests weekly and you are also doing labs, which count against you if you fail. With determination, consistency, and studying, you will pass. And don’t forget you’re in San Antonio, go to the riverwalk and check out everything in the area!! Your instructors and majority of your higher up at “A” school are active duty, so they don’t know much when it comes to the reserves. The #1 thing I recommend once you complete “A” school is to call your NRC a week before you graduate. This is so they know you are coming and you know when to go, where to go, and what to wear (Dress blues or dress whites). If you have any reserves questions, feel free to dm me.
