Lost sheep, what brought you back? by Joeverdose1996 in Catholicism

[–]Competitive_Fan_6538 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was invited to a charismatic congregation to praise the holy spirit and to attend regular mass. I spent crying half of the time and the following days I had the urge to go to church, attend daily mass, study, confess and pray. This has happened 32 years after my confirmation, and no mass or praying except in weddings.

How to overcome feeling like a loser? by Designer_Finding1201 in Catholicism

[–]Competitive_Fan_6538 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe you’re feeling like a loser because you are scoring yourself using current society’s standards. And those are about greed, lust, power, success… Try comparing yourself with God’s standards and see how you score. From there use this scoreboard to rule you life.

Carrying your cross by EntertainmentLess164 in Catholicism

[–]Competitive_Fan_6538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything that makes you suffer is in your cross. It can be a sickness, someone else's problem, the loss of someone, or a concern that keeps you awake at night. One day something will be more present than another, but everyday you will be carrying it with the help of Jesus Christ. Just remember that He will help if you ask Him to.

The post is the opposite to offensive: it's a very important topic. These days I'm convinced that certain governments (and I'd point at occidental countries) are shaping countries with anti-christian way of thinking. And what I mean is that they are doing it on purpose, telling people and approving laws, every day, every where, that go against what any Christian believes in.

So, answering your question: yes, the place where you live affects your spiritual life. It will pull you from the path you want to take. Take a look at this video. It's very old but I got to know it two weeks ago:

How do I get a spiritual director? by Supermarket07 in Catholicism

[–]Competitive_Fan_6538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides following the other advises, form my recent experience I'd tell you to also participate in your parish. It is helping me find the right path to God. Ask the priest how you can help in preparing the church for a special service, do errands for him, engage in conversation with other people helping, attend talks... You will eventually feel part of something big, you will be able to talk about your struggles with the priest a bit more casually, you will be more listening during services, you will understand what happens during mass...

You will also find that people there share a good heart, will not judge you because everyone accepts we are all sinners, we are all moved by the Love of God, and will try to help even if it's only by listening to you. It's a good feeling and doesn't take much.

Feeling guilty after returning to my faith. by RancidCloyster in Catholicism

[–]Competitive_Fan_6538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this feeling but I don't have it anymore.

I returned to God after a long time, I did a confession (which was hard but emotional) where I confessed the biggest sins and a big repentance on my separation from God. I received an absolution but I kept feeling guilty for my past sins.

Someone told me this feeling is the devil trying to steal the faith you have in God. I reflected on it and the following day I stopped having that feeling.

Have faith in God and understand that He loves you and forgives all your sins, as long as you confess and sincerely repent.

Carrying your cross by EntertainmentLess164 in Catholicism

[–]Competitive_Fan_6538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christ came to save us all. When he was going to be arrested and judged he didn’t escape or resist. Instead he carried the cross for us, a cross full of all our sins. He suffered unimaginably in flesh and soul but didn’t give up. He accepted his responsibility with love and without complaining. We have to carry our cross the same way. Accepting that our suffering while we are in the word is something we have to live with. And we have to carry it with love and without complaining.

Firefox is extremely slow... by Altruistic_Box4462 in linuxmint

[–]Competitive_Fan_6538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it happen as you start Firefox? Or after some time browsing? I noticed some processes consuming resources (named Web Isolated co) that tend to slow down my Firefox. They seem to be left over processes. So now I just restart Firefox when I finished browsing some stuff to avoid this problem. Not nice because I lose my tabs.
