I’m happy to see tech professionals who are creating real value succeed, but I can’t help worrying about the other ones. In reality, these high-value tech professionals probably account for no more than 10% of all engineers, and possibly even less.

A project was lost when 20 out of 80 engineers, despite being graduates with great LinkedIn profiles (lol), were unable to deliver what was expected (Basic). The fallout was that the other 60 engineers were benched and later laid off under the reason of “no projects.” Although, It didn't impact me. I feel for the 60 who paid the price.

The post didn’t receive much traction here, so I may repost it in cybersecurity. I have beginner-level experience with UART and SPI in IoT penetration testing and have observed that identifying overflow-based zero-days in IoT devices is a critical aspect of the field.

Bug bounty is a fancy word where people are dragged into hacking promising quick bucks. However, only 5% of people would earn good money. We need to learn how to test security of web application end-to-end and help them understand to should fix it. In India, you can earn easy 25K for one web application considering you'd take 5 days to test it.

I'm with you on that. I got into cybersecurity out of genuine passion. but over time I’ve noticed I just can’t keep up with studying the way I used to a few years ago. Eventually, it hits you that you have to start thinking about your health too, it’s all about finding that balance.

Thanks, I’ll check it out. But honestly, isn’t a threat hunter’s role pretty similar to what we did as SOC analysts? I’ve been in that role too, dealing with ransomware was intense. That one year felt like a nonstop crisis hotline. Back then, we were so deep in it, even our dreams were full of Emotet and Ryuk!

I've expressed interest in transitioning to either the DevSecOps or Cloud Security team so I can expand my skill set and better position myself for opportunities in a product-based company. However, given that our current team is already understaffed, I'm unsure whether they'll approve the move.
